Information has been received from Mr. Shelley, of Waitekerei, by the police authorities to the effect that he had found a skeleton of a man in the Waitekerei ranges. There were, beside the remains a handbag, a cloak, and a pocket-book. Mounted Constable Crean, of the Avondale station has been instructed to go to the locality indicated and make the necessary investigations.

A BUSH MYSTERY.
Constable Cream reports that he went to the Waitakerei Bush yesterday, and there found the skeleton of a man, reported by Mr. Shelley, a settler of the district. It is thought that the skeleton is the remnant of a European adult, and that it had lain in the bush about three years. On a tree adjacent was a piece of rope, suspiciously pointing to suicide. Deceased was wearing a suit of clothes, which were pretty well rotten, but the constable considered it to be a light small check tweed suit. By the remains was a military cloak or cape, with large check lining, and the boots deceased was wearing were lace-ups, and were half-soled. In the pockets were two purses, containing a half-sovereign, a florin, a shilling, and a 10-cent piece, dated 1897. There were also found a small handbag, containing a small notebook; a pocket-knife, with pearl handle, two blades and corkscrew. The remains were conveyed to the Waitakerei railway station, where Mr. Gresham held an inquest on the body this morning.

An inquest was held on Thursday, by Mr Gresham, coroner, at the Waitakerei railway station, on the body of a man, name unknown, whose remains were found in the Waitakerei ranges by Mr Shelley, settler, a day or two ago. The greater part of the facts have already been published. Dr. Lewis, who examined the skeleton remains, deposed that they were those of a male adult, about 30 years of age, and had been lying there about three years. The man had evidently hanged himself. The jury, after hearing the other evidence, returned a verdict that deceased, name unknown, whose remains had been discovered on August 20th, in Waitakerei ranges, had committed suicide, some time in 1898. Constable Crean has taken possession of the remains, awaiting instructions as to their disposal.

Anglican divisions M and N are what is known as ‘Potters Fields’, they were used to bury some of the people whose families were unable to afford funeral costs, were institutionalised or unidentified at the time of burial. These plots were common graves with many having several individuals interred in each. They were narrower and closer together and, because they were not paid for, permanent grave markers were not permitted to be erected.
It is now no longer known where either Anglican Division M or N starts let alone the rows or individual plots which have now been protected by ghost gums, native trees & flax.
However it is believed that Division M starts closest to Eucalyptus Ave & that single rows were used for both areas.

Mallotus muticus, collected from plot 3 in the Danau Girang Field Centre by J.M, J.LR, H.S, T.G, N.P and J.W on 14/09/14.
Plot 3 contains semi-inundated forest, GPS position 5,245233 ; 118,022547. Semi-inundated forest tends to have low tree diversity with little undergrowth however lianas are often abundant. This forest type is characterized by periods of inundation between 3 and 6 months.
The Family Euphorbiaceae contains 229 genera, 6500 species all over the world except the Arctic, few in the Amazon basin. Trees, shrubs, lianas or herbs. Examples: Hevea, Manihot, Micrandra, Sapium-rubber, Manihot-cassava, Cnidoscolus-vegetables, Aleurites, Garcia, Mallotus, Vernicia-industrial and medicinal oils, Endospermum, Hevea, Ricinodendron-timber, Mallotus, Merculiaris-dyes, Euphorbia, Jatropha-hydrocarbon, Acalypha, Breynia, Codiaeum-cultural/ornamental (Mabberley, 2008).

Found: Peninsula Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (throughout) (Slik, 2009).
Description: Upper canopy tree up to 42m tall. Stipules dropped early. Flowers green-yellowish, placed in racemes. Fruits reddish (Slik, 2009).
Ecology: Undisturbed riverine and swampy forest up to 300m alt. often found along or near rivers. Also found on limestone (Slik, 2009).
Synonyms: Coccoceras borneense, C. muticum, M. borneensis, Rottlera borneensis (The Plant List, 2010)
Just plotting my next shot...or i got bored and i had lights...I'd rather the plotting. Chicks dig plotting. Not so much the scheming, but the plotting is a big winner around these parts. Perhaps more sleep is in order. I perhaps will make more sense.

This hike was none the less challenging for being a novice hiker. Lost track of the trail for about 30 minutes and I probably would of sold my first born for a can of Off. This was the only "waterfall" that was reachable as I think mosquito's were running out of room on my arms and legs to munch on.

Two millet plots that have both received one night’s worth of cattle manure, either without urine (left hand plot) or including the urine (right hand plot). Does this image show a treatment effect, a case of pre-existing soil variability, or a combination of the two?
A case of a clear urine effect, or a case of a natural fertility gradient, with fertility gradually increasing from left to right, related to the presence of an old termite mound just off-picture on the right? Researchers should investigate both alternatives!

Mit über 150 Teilnehmern war die zweite Ausgabe der Businessplattform "Raumwelten" ein voller Erfolg. Im Reithaus Ludwigsburg kamen Vertreter aus der mittelständischen Wirtschaft mit Kreativschaffenden zusammen.
Nach den Begrüßungsworten von Dr. Walter Rogg (Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH), Prof. Ulrich Wegenast (Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH) und Sabine Marinescu (Plot - die Plattform für Inszenierung im Raum) widmete sich Rainer Kautt von der Firma Franz Schneider Brakel GmbH + Co KG dem Thema der wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung der räumlichen Markenkommunikation.
Moderiert von Dr. Jan Esche wurden danach drei Best-Practice-Vorträge mit verschiedene Projekten aus den Bereichen Corporate Design, Markenwelten und Kommunikation im Raum vorgestellt. Jeweils ein Unternehmensvertreter erläuterte mit einem Kreativschaffenden Umsetzung und Details zum "Microsoft Briefing Center", dem "Schwäbisch Hall Markenhaus" und dem "Burkhardt Leitner Messestand Euroshop". Die daran anschließende Diskussionsrunde mit den Protagonisten gewährte weitere Einblicke in die Zusammenarbeit von Auftraggebern und Kreativagenturen.
Nach der Mittagspause präsentierten sich Experten involvierter Gestaltungsdisziplinen für räumliche Kommunikation in sieben Kurzvorträgen.
Das Herzstück der Veranstaltung waren die sogenannten Sprechstunden. Hier konnten die Teilnehmer mit allen Referenten in Gesprächsrunden persönliche Fragestellungen anbringen, über Projekte diskutieren oder konkrete Anliegen vorbringen. Als Überleitung zur Partnerveranstaltung der "Internationalen Szenographie Biennale (ISB´13)" gab es ein Expo-Panel, bestehend aus einem Vortrag sowie einer Diskussionsrunde zum Thema "Nation Branding". Abschließend konnten die Teilnehmer im Residenzschloss Ludwigsburg den Tag bei einem Aperitif ausklingen lassen und der Eröffnung der "ISB´13" beiwohnen.

Plot size is S for small, 6m squared, the yearly cost is $90, but this is likely to be reduced. This in not just a plot for growing vegies but a link to the local community. They had a wonderfull allocation ceremony and even gave a handover and acceptance speech, like a wedding :-)
Diego, plotting.
Despite the wind whipping up, we couldn’t resist a walk around the lake, hoping to see more of the big koi and the geese. Diego was particularly enthralled by a brace of turtles we encountered, sunning themselves on a partially exposed log. We sat down in the grass to watch them for a bit, and when they slid into the water and we got up to leave, Diego spied a young man over by the water’s edge, fishing.
Well, not really fishing. He didn’t have a bait or hook, just a small weight on the end of the line, and he was casting and reeling in, casting and reeling in, casting and reeling in… It was clearly more of a meditative, zen-type exercise, and his girlfriend lazed on a blanket behind him, watching without comment.
Diego walked right up to him.
DIEGO: “Did you catch a fish?”
MAN: “No, I’m afraid not.”
DIEGO (pointing to the other side of the lake): “All the fish are over there.”
MAN: “Is that so?”
GIRLFRIEND: “That’s your problem, Jake. You’re fishing in the wrong spot.”
MAN: “Well… thanks for the tip.”
They said their goodbyes. Diego picked a little clover flower and gave it to the man’s girlfriend, and we headed back to find Altamira.
I snapped this picture as Diego peered out over the lake, clearly hatching a plan he knew I wouldn’t be fond of.
