The Crown Fountain in Chicago's Millenium Park, designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, The fountain consists of two 50-foot glass block towers at each end of a shallow reflecting pool. The towers project video images from a broad social spectrum of Chicago citizens, a reference to the traditional use of gargoyles in fountains, where faces of mythological beings were sculpted with open mouths to allow water, a symbol of life, to flow out. Plensa adapted this practice by having faces of Chicago citizens projected on LED screens and having water flow through an outlet in the screen to give the illusion of water spouting from their mouths. The collection of faces, Plensa's tribute to Chicagoans, was taken from a cross-section of 1,000 residents (cityofchicago.org).

LE SILENCE DE LA PENSÉE is an amazing exhibition by a Spanish artist in a little town in the south of France, almost in Spain. Here I've used one of the gallery attendants in silent thought to add my own touch to his art. Handheld at 1/5th sec not recomended. This piece part of "Continents".
I was leaning on a wall with elbow and head acting as bipod and IS doing the rest..

JAUME PLENSA: TOGETHER, VENICE BIENNALE

On occasion of the 56th International Art Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia, one of Venice's most celebrated landmarks, the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, will host Together, a major exhibition of new works by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. The exhibition will run from May 7 through November 22.
For four hundred years the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore has been a place of worship, communication and meditation, where Palladio’s profound architecture creates a stilling and contemplative environment. Plensa’s response to this powerful space is Together; a conversation between two sculptures - hand, suspended beneath the cupola in the foreground of the altar, and head, sited in the nave. Placed on the dominant west-east axis of the building, the works set up a line of spiritual and intellectual discourse which evokes emotion and seeks to connect with his viewers on an intuitive level.

Taken to Buffalo hoping to see my daughter swing dancing. Couldn't take the noise of the football game in the bar next to the dancing hall. Took a few restful moments at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum instead. Well worth it, hope to return.

“Dreaming” is a monumental sculpture by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, located in downtown Toronto’s financial district. The serene face, with its elongated proportions and closed eyes, invites a moment of calm reflection amid the glass towers of Bay Street. Plensa’s work often explores themes of silence, contemplation, and shared humanity, and this striking piece has become a landmark of public art in the city.

The sculpture is about 14 m high.
Pilane is an open air art gallery set on the grounds of a more than 2000 year old grave site. It was a settlement and burial place, but as well a social and cultural meeting place. Contemporary artists have turned into a meeting place again.

About this peace of art:
Jaume Plensa is a sculptor of humanity and explores universality and spirituality through the human body. Plensa says that with those giant heads he was inspired by the European tradition of gargoyles, only those used to have grotesque faces that spit water out of their mouths. With his work he wanted to bring that back to the public space, but with real people and with today's technology he can create 'new divinities' out of anonymous people. He says that his faces belong to real people, which he scans with lasers. Art critics say of his art "a radically new kind of public monument to the person". RI like his idea. There are more giant heads in the USA, UK, Mexico etc..
Barcelona-based artist - Jaume Plensa said "The sculpture is not sending a message to Manhattan, and she is not "shushing," but silently calling for quiet."
