Formed in 1973 in Woking, near London, the Jam gained popularity on the English club circuit. Their energetic shows and sound drew comparisons with the early Who, and that band's influence is evident in the Jam's first album, In the City (1977), which solidified the group's guitar-bass-drums lineup.

Literally a last minute idea which I had this morning upon waking up. Otherwise I'd have skipped, because I didn't simply want to use a random object that didn't match with four other random objects, and I also couldn't think of anything that would actually make sense as a true "misfit". But this morning, it hit me, sort of. I've watched the "The Runaways" movie just the other day, so the music is still going around in my head, and all of a sudden I thought "Why not use a guitar pick with my violin?" You don't strum a violin, and even if it's required that you play pizzicato, you won't do that with a pick, you use your fingers. And I've also always preferred Rock music of all sorts over classical music (not that I don't like the latter, but... Rock music is where the fun is, at least for me).
Now I don't play guitar, but, luckily, a guitar pick, among other things, came as a givaway with Juliana Hatfield's latest record "Blood", so I could use that (the pick is 3 cm / 1,18 inches long, and the width of the image is 4,5 cm / 1,77 inches).
The photo itself was done very quickly, kind of my version of a three chord / three minute Rock song ;) While my usual photographic approach, at least when it comes to MMs, is more like an album-long Prog "suite", doing this, trying that, I didn't bother with focus stacking or any other complicated technique or setups this time, a few shots (four in total) had to do of which this was the best. OK, so this is my version of a four minute Rock song. I hope you like it :)
Happy Macro Monday, Everyone, have a nice week ahead, and stay safe!
Originally by Bob Seger but given a new angsty angle by James Hetfield and Metallica on their Garage Incorporated cover album (s).
A little convoluted maybe with a guitar pick and miniature JD’s but I had them around as my first attempt was ‘Whiskey in the Jar’.
But your thoughts will soon be wanderin'
The way they always do
When you're ridin' 16 hours
There's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin'
You just wish the trip was through
Here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on the stage
There I go playin' the star again
There I go, turn the page
Later in the evenin'
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers
Ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette
Rememberin' what she said
What she said
My attempt at the "Macro Monday" theme "EDC".
It shows a plectrum/pick for guitar, of course. It's one of those things, that you make a habit of carrying around with you at all times as a musician. And experience tells you: It will come in handy for sure!
I don't have any particular brand or type I use exclusively, but I prefer the ones with a thickness of around 1 mm.

The shamisen is a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument derived from the Chinese sanxian. It is played with a plectrum called a bachi.
Traditionally, the strings were made of silk, while the skin covering the body was usually dog or cat skin. The bashi, or plectrum, was typically made of ivory, tortoise shell or buffalo horn.
I live with a musician, which means there are guitar picks everywhere. Most of them are grey---this tortie one is my personal favorite.
a custom plectrum from the brilliant guitarist Ronnie Simmons (Richie Ramone band)
After every second song or so, he threw a worn plectrum into the crowd. I managed to get one (ok my young and energetic sister Áine, fought and suffered for it on the floor and then gave it to me, knowing I'd like to have it!) ..& me being me, I thanked her for her pain and can now put it on Flickr

This is a fresco on an arch painted some 1,300 years ago. This is from the interior of one of the several so called “desert castles” that exist in Jordan, many in fairly inhospitable places…this painting of a man strumming his Oud is one of many that decorate the entire wall and ceiling interior of this well-preserved structure that was built by the Umayyad caliphate in the first years of Islam in the 8th century. During this time, the UNSECO World Heritage webpage reports that, unlike in later years, secular painting was still common in/on Islamic architecture.
You can see his Oud plectrum or "risha." It seems he is sitting and there is perhaps some kind of lap support for the instrument? Not sure...
The paintings are astounding and the stars and night sky painting on the ceiling of one room is thought to be one of the earliest depictions of the night sky constellations in the world… the structure was part of a residence and bathing facility within a greater residence/fort. It includes changing rooms, a water and wastewater system and also a very large bath (yes, the caliphate hot tub).
This fort was a caliphate winter retreat from Damascus and UNESCO calls this remaining structure a “pleasure palace.” OK… each fresco panel is riveting as are their decorative borders and it’s shocking to me that they have lasted this long in this condition and are not more damaged. To me they seem to have a Mauryan and/or Hellenistic look about them, but UNESCO says the painting influence is Byzantine… anyway, I’ll be going back to look at them longer and, of course, I continue to work on my art appreciation… :-)
The bouzouki (also buzuki) (Greek: μπουζούκι pronounced [buˈzuci]; plural: μπουζούκια) is a Greek musical instrument that was brought to Greece in the 1900s by Greek immigrants from Asia Minor, and quickly became the central instrument to the rebetika genre and its music branches. A mainstay of modern Greek music, the front of the body is flat and is usually heavily inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The instrument is played with a plectrum and has a sharp metallic sound, reminiscent of a mandolin but pitched lower. There are two main types of bouzouki. The trichordo (three-course) has three pairs of strings (known as courses), and the tetrachordo (four-course) has four pairs of strings.
Foolish mortals, apartment dwellers no less, found this divine musical plectrum. In their ignorance they set it near the dumpster instead of placing it on an altar. Fortunately for them, the smoke-filled sky obscured the Sun god's vision.

The shamisen is a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument derived from the Chinese sanxian. It is played with a plectrum called a bachi.
The shamisen varies in shape and length, depending on the genre in which it is used. The instrument used to accompany kabuki, for example, has a thin neck, facilitating the agile and virtuosic requirements of that genre. The one used to accompany puppet plays and folk songs, on the other hand, has a longer and thicker neck to match the more robust music of those genres.

The plectrum, also known as plectrum, nib, straw, vellum, nail or fingernail, is a small, thin and firm piece, usually in the shape of a triangle, made of different possible materials used to play the guitar and other string instruments , as a replacement or aid of the fingers.

Many and many a year ago, this traditional instrument by the name of zither was presented to my grandmother by my grandfather as a gift to entertain her while she was expecting with my father... to this day very much cherished by the family as a most precious treasure telling a story ...

Zither
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The zither is a musical string instrument, consisting of many strings stretched across a thin, flat body. It is played by strumming or plucking the strings, either with one's fingers, or using a tool called a plectrum. Like a guitar or lute, a zither's body serves as a sound box, but unlike them, a zither has no neck. The number of strings varies, from as few as twelve to more than fifty.
The term 'zither' organologically refers to a broad family of Eurasian musical instruments, but in modern usage most commonly refers to one of three specific instruments: the concert zither and its variant the Alpine zither and the fretless (or "guitar") zither. Zither are most commonly found in Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, northwestern Croatia, the southern regions of Germany, alpine Europe, and East Asian cultures, including China.
The instrument underwent a popularity boom and resurgence in the late 1940s through to 1960s, following its prominent success as the theme music of the acclaimed 1949 film noir, The Third Man.

Pick Collecting Quarterly, an authority on guitar picks calls PickBay an engineering masterpiece:
--- "The precision of the engineering is purely masterful. While it is unbelievably simple to change picks, one physically must give a gentle push to get the pick out. Doesn't take much effort at all, yet at the same time, the loop at the top prevents picks from just falling out on their own.
It really is wonderfully designed."

The intention of this theme is to show 2 objects interacting with each other (actually touching !) for the purpose of performing a specific action. It must be clear that the contact is not just by coincidence but with the purpose to actually achieve something.
