I'm pleased to say that Star has continued her habit of seeing me off on my water adventures (as here) and welcoming me back upon my return. A fine feline first mate indeed. Yesterday, I was able to squeeze in a few hours between storms and then lost power from 2 pm until 5 am this morning. Always interesting to note one's total dependence on electricity when it's unavailable. Flipping switches has become an involuntary reflex. However, I remained dry on this trip unlike my attempt to do the same the day before when I got drenched on a walk. More rain today but, happily, it's supposed to clear for the next few days. The lake right now is higher than I can recall, but the moisture sure has greened everything up quickly and the fire threat is low.

Young, friendly Red squirrel photographed at British Wildlife Centre

I was photographing damsels at the local ponds ,when I spotted this dragonfly . I managed to follow it ,and capture some pictures after it had settled for a while. I was very pleased to find out later this was my first photo of a scarce chaser!

pleased with this so much harder to focus on going past the greenery at speed

Pleased to get a flight shot.

It was great just watching this Dragonfly as well as trying to photograph it, I watched as it chased a Butterfly which only escaped by diving into the grass, another one didn't have the chance to as it was over the water and after a frantic aerial duel it just managed to evade it, great to watch!

Was pleased to see a female & male took about a dozen shots but most had slight blur as they were foraging for food was lying down on decking handheld.

Many thanks for stopping by always appreciated.

Really pleased to get one of these a first for me.

The Clouded Yellow is one of the truly migratory European butterflies and a regular visitor to Britain and Ireland. Although some of these golden-yellow butterflies are seen every year, the species is famous for occasional mass immigrations and subsequent breeding, which are fondly and long remembered as ''Clouded Yellow Years''. A small proportion of females are pale yellow (form helice), which can be confused with the rarer Pale and Berger's Clouded Yellows.

Saturday pleased with beautiful sunshine and perfect temperatures so I went for an extended scooter tour with my brother in law into the Osnabrück area. Our goal was to experience and photograph historical buildings, castles, manor houses and the typical semi-timbered houses in small towns and the countryside. Schloss Hünnefeld, Bad Essen, Lower Saxony, Germany

Not entirely pleased with this one, but, I'm melting here in San Francisco. It hit 100 in downtown SF today and that's just wrong. Brain is melting.

Pleased I was able to finally get to this iconic Mt. Rainier waterfall. It's famous for lining up with Rainier nicely. Last time I was here the trails were closed for maintenance.

I'd heard Myrtle can be a tough shoot, so was here in the dark. Wasn't sure why. Short hike to get to it. It is an easy shoot actually, for just one shooter. No room for another to set up. Can't see the falls for the trees, except for this one small window.

The smoky skies enhanced the rosy glow that Rainier gets for a short time each sunrise. Who needs sleep when you can get up and begin a day with sights like this? A nap later helps tho.

Friday is here! Have a wonderful day and weekend!

It pleased me to grow with the morning,

to bathe in the sun, in the joy

of sun, salt, sea-light and wave,

and in that unwinding of the foam

my heart began to move -

This Golden-crowned Sparrow looks a bit grumpy. "The Golden-crowned Sparrow arrives earlier and stays longer on its California wintering grounds than almost any other bird species. When day length increases in the spring, the Golden-crowned Sparrow detects the change through photoreceptors (light-sensitive cells). Its body responds by putting on fat and getting an urge to migrate." Information from the All About Birds website, www.allaboutbirds.org, © Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

I was pleased to have finally captured a hen Hooded Merganser with her brood of ducklings. When I first saw them I thought I was looking at a log but after just a moment I realized my error as the log began to change shape and move. A quick peek through the viewfinder gave me a glimpse into what turned into a spectacular day of watching mama and her ducklings. There are between 13 and 16 ducklings in the group and it was such fun to watch them as they would run across the water to keep up with mama at times.

I'm sure that nature will take its course and their numbers will decrease but I plan to see more of them while I can and before Magee Marsh begins to call me this next month. This is an extreme cropped image as mama hen didn't want to introduce me to the flock. Turns out they were 282 feet away according to EXIF data.

Taken 20 April 2016 at Huntley Meadows Park in Virginia.

My previous attempts at photographing dragonflies have been embarrassing failures, however, I was very pleased with this one. The plain background helped immensely

Yellow-rumped Thornbill (Acanthiza chrysorrhoa), Woodlands Historic Park, Greenvale.

I find these guys particularly hard to get a good photo of, so I was very pleased when this one landed here in the gorgeous light.

Pleased with this as I think this photograph tells one.

So pleased I made the effort to go out & chase the storm because this image made my night. The most spectacular fork lightning I've ever seen in my life, and it was right behind the famous Blackpool Tower

While I understand the excitement of mile long trains wrapping through the Pennsylvania mountains, this is more my style! The incredibly classic power of the Arizona Central begins the 38 mile trip to Clarkdale with 16 cars in tow for the plant. The lengthy train made this spot my first choice, and I'm very pleased with the results! Henry nailed this one a week later with slightly lower perspective and a monster train of 29 cars, unheard of for this railroad: www.flickr.com/photos/henry_dell/51683517805/

This concludes my posting of AZCR shots until my next venture out there, but with fall coming to a close I'm running a bit behind on posting some shots with color ;)

Pleased to see this male visiting my garden regularly at the minute, hopefully he's raising young and he'll bring them along when they've fledged!

(well worth viewing large)

Pleased to say this is a first for me

Pleased to get some good views of this Wagtail

As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated

Stay safe

Pleased to have reached my target of 10 listings in my Etsy Shop today with this image!

Always pleased when watching a special cloud like this one accompanied by my fantastic always with me pocket cam (Sony RX100VI with 8,3x zoom and 1-inch sensor)

Rampart Range Road, Colorado Springs, CO - I was pleased to find large numbers of Clark's Nutcrackers hard at work ripping apart pine cones the other day. These high mountain birds plant the seeds of pine trees in their quest for food as they extract seeds from pine cones and bury them in various locations to serve as winter food stores. Those seeds that are never reclaimed for food, later turn into lovely pine forests, which the area now needs having suffered great loss from the Waldo Canyon Fire several years ago ...

taken on my birthday - best being blurred when you hit 61.:-)

There's been only a single female Musk Duck in Braeside Wetlands for the past two years or so. It was a nice surprise to spot her with another duck last Tuesday and I was wondering what the other one could be, because it had no lobe under its beak. A few minutes later this handsome male emerged from the water. This seems to be a family!

(Biziura lobata)

Hmm, actually a little pleased with this one.

The stoneware jar is in itself no more than 3 inches totally.

I placed it on a glass dish, to add some water/light reflection, and then under a running kitchen faucet.

Again, a little surprised of the result, in a positive way :-)

Tried the slow shutter speed that we experimented with a couple of months ago in the 'intentional blur' theme, but the result didn't turn out well.
