What was the platform side of the Great Western Railway station at Wolverhampton Low Level station has been redeveloped into flats on the right & a hotel in the distance. The tall building in the background is being built on the trackbed beyond.
At least the Down side awning and 1922 vintage footbridge which used to span three tracks have been retained. It's not sure what the main station buildings to the left will be used for. Thankfully the casino proposal fell through. This view is looking north from close to where the old South signal box stood.
Low Level was opened by the Oxford Worcestershire & Wolverhampton Railway in 1854 and closed to passengers in 1972. There followed another 9 years as a parcels depot and then 25 years of dereliction. I would prefer to see it still open as railway station but at least the main buildings have been preserved and despite the grey day look impressive.

The water platforms.
These 2 platforms sit just off the beach at the Sizewell nuclear power plant.
Now abandoned, save for the 100's of birds, they once ran coolant water into, and out of, the plant. The cold water inlet was the furthest platform, with the hot water outlet being the nearest.
By all accounts when swimming in the sea it was noticeably warmer around the hot water outlet.
3 eyed fish anyone?

Some more work from 2008. One of the local oil platforms shot from Huntington Beach, CA. I underexposed and processed for a slide film look.

45054 stands on the main down platform 1 with the Saturday 1V87 09.08 Newcastle - Paignton on 23rd May 1981. My inventory for this one was quite low with five runs clocking in at 163 miles total. I'd spent the morning fotting the arrival of 'Westcountry' steam loco wreck 34007 Wadebridge arriving from Barry Scrapyard on a low loader at Marsh Mills in Plymouth then headed to Exeter for the afternoon and evening for a fester. Young Persons Railcards did not exist as they were still exclusively 'student only' with the YP under 24 railcard coming in later in the summer of 1981 and so being intellectually challenged and one of the lumpen proletariat I did not qualify for one so paid full whack for train tickets. I wasn't yet acquainted with rail fare 'dark arts' so my day was spent rooted at the end of platform 4 observing the coming and goings. A rather nondescript spotting day with no stand out workings or locos.
Strangely this loco, formerly D95, was the second peak to carry the number 45054, the first being D78. D95 was re-numbered under TOPS as 45054 on release from Derby Works in May 1975. It was meant to be fitted with ETH equipment and be numbered 45150, but was unsuitable for the conversion. Sister loco D78 then carried the number 45054 from January 1975 to May 1975 but then had ETH equipment fitted instead of D95 and came out of Derby Works in July 1975 as 45150. Confused ? I am. Top peak man Trevor Dorrington has said today on my Facebook post "that it was all about the main generator armature shaft needing to be free of any microscopic flaws, for the locomotive to be selected as being suitable for conversion to ETH, because of the additional weight imposed on the armature shaft by the ETH Alternator". Well that's clear enough.
