Playing Boy from Jos by Irene Becker © All rights reserved
Boy playing with an old bicycle tire. One of the oldest games in the world. From the "forgotten images" archive.
Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.

I've used the Nik tools to take what was essentially a very bland, poorly exposed picture (taken with a Canon A550 point-and-shoot while driving by in a car) and turn it into something with some punch and drama. I think I was able to salvage what would have been a throw-away and turn it into something with at least some interest. Just to be clear, this is in no way an attempt to achieve realism. Neither the photo SOOC, nor this looks anything like what i actually saw.
The picture above is the result of fiddling with a single exposure HDR in Silver Efex Pro to make a punchy monochrome.

Tourism Under Water.
Natural spring water is not found randomly but only in special locations.
Kerang, Mangu L.G.A. in Plateau State is among the blessed villages to have this God given Wonder.
This Natural spring in home to one of Nigeria's first water bottling companies, it boasts of its clarity, purity and unending flow.
According to the locals,
1. The spring moves its outlet every 3 months all year round.
2. Every morning between 5am-6am the water is at boiling point.
3. Without need for purification it is ready to drink (As seen in the photo with my friend holding a bottle).
4. Since it was discovered, it has never ran dry.
5. Down the streamline, there is a confluence with another water source. The beauty of this is that these two waters don't mix when they meet but flow side by side and it's visible.
These and many other facts and myths accompany this beautiful natural water source.
This water source has provided clean drinkable water for whole country consistently and planted a company in the village creating employment for the locals.
The entry photo was taken with a GoPro Hero from under the water to further emphasize its clarity and transparency.
The world is yet to see this and i wish they will.

The Primary 5 teacher at Creative Minds Academy in Jos, Nigeria, conducts a math lesson for his class of 24 students. Creative Minds is severely understaffed, and continues to accept new students, regardless of their family's ability to pay school fees.

One of the primary students at Creative Minds Academy in Jos, Nigeria dances across one of the many boulders that outline the school's courtyard, just moments before a violent thunder storm passed overhead. The isolated piece land that Creative Minds Academy currently stands on is leased, and the school's proprietor, Emmanuel Ivorgba, fears that they will not have the funds to renew the lease in June of 2009.
