Crazy Tuesday Theme: Made of Plastic

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

This is a Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit built out of the box, including markings.

The aircraft depicts F/L Norm Smithells A58-517, UP-F, "Hava Go Jo" when with 79 Squadron RAAF late in WW2.

The white markings were applied in various forms but mostly included the main plane leading edges as per my previous model.

Like my previous models, this is brush painted. Better photos when able to take them.

Volkswagen 1300 Beetle 1966 model, Tamiya, escala 1/24.

I forgot to add this Spitfire build to my posts when I built it.

It is the Airfix 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk XIV built out of the box. Decals were from the kit.

The real aircraft was flown by a S/L J. B. Pendergast, RCAF over Europe in early 1945.

Just for fun I built this Doyusha 1/100 scale DC-3 kit as an early WW II, US Army Air Force C-53 Skytrooper.

The main difference between it and the C-47 was the lack of cargo door and the cargo floor wasn't strengthened.

This is the very old 1957 mold Airfix 1/72 scale Spitfire Mk IX kit from a later issue.

As I won my air battles around 1960 with the kit, I thought that I would have a go all these years later.

I'm afraid that age is catching up with both of us but this is the build. The kit wasn't the best but it was annoying that the decals split etc. but I persisted and finished it.

Paul Tully (RIP) flew an aircraft much like the model in this photo when he was with 452 Squadron, Darwin.

His first Spitfire was like this with just the letter K and no serial painted on. This was apparently standard on 452 Sqn at the time. He was shot down in this aircraft but survived to fly another K.

God Bless you Paul.

My 1/48 scale Italeri Nesher has joined my two Academy Mirage IIICJ on the Dulacca flight line. This continues my Mirage collection in 1/48 scale.

Coupler work leads to coupler testing, and these two boxcars have new couplers. The crew is discussing how to test these newly installed Kadee couplers.

Finally done enough to put it away in the cupboard. It is a Kinetic 1/48 scale F-16C issued by Italeri. Some fragile parts for an old bloke.

Just finished my old Airfix issue Hawker Hurricane Mk 1 out of the box (apart from tail wheel replacement due to breakage).

New caboose, who dis?

This is my third LGB-based bobber caboose. These are a lot of work because the sides from the factory mold have this flat part for a DRGW logo. To make them look better, new groves have to be cut to make the planks look separate.

This caboose features a lantern on the roof, lit by track power. My other builds had lit lanterns on one end of the car.

It looks like I forgot to paint the yellow on some of the grab irons. I also ordered new Kadee couplers for this car, which will finish the project.

On the same day as Streamliners in Spencer I hosted my own gathering of streamlined locos on my garden railroad.
