sunlight shining on a plastic model I assembled decades ago...trying to decide what to do with it....
Australian pilot Paul Tully flew Spitfire Mk V's with 452 Squadron in both the UK and Australia. His aircraft was coded UD-K in the UK while in Australia his aircraft just had K with no serial painted on the sides.
I built this to represent his UK aircraft.
RIP Paul Tully.
This is my third 1/48 scale model of an Aussie Air Force marked Spitfire Mk VIII. Some never received the white leading edge or tail markings, and were left with larger roundels like this.
This is an Arii / Otaki kit built out of the box with a RAAF serial number added, and is brush painted.
Macro Mondays 'silhouette' theme.
I really enjoyed this theme, so much so that I ended up with several shots I liked and had to make a decision which one to submit. This one is a small plastic model of a GSD with moveable head, legs and tail - it measures 6.5 cm from nose to tail tip so I hope the photo just squeezes in for the MM requirements. His 'ball' is a tiny silver dragee.
I placed the model and his ball on a blue box in a light tent, with a blue backdrop. A sb900 speedlight was fired, through a softbox and also through the back of the tent (which further diffused the light) at 1/8 power.
As a g-scale freight train rumbles through the basement access, some visitors to the railroad stop at the door to watch it pass.
One of the kids holds his stuffed animal up to the window to see the trains, too.
I just got a kick out of how much the kids were enjoying the trains at this railroad open house.

Out of the box Hasegawa 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk VIII from 79 Squadron RAAF. The markings were used in the Pacific theatre during WW2 war.
My Panda / Dragon 1/35 scale UH-1H Iroquois is coming along nicely. It will represent aircraft A2-490 from 5 Squadron RAAF, an aircraft I flew in.
Lots of mods to the model such a making the hook hang in a hell hole in the belly, slimming the main rotor blades in chord, and redoing the tops of the engine cowls among other bits.
I have almost finished this Airfix 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk 24. It carries the markings of 80 Squadron RAF, in 1951 at Kai Tak, Hong Kong. They are kit supplied decals and it is built straight from the box. Brush painted using Humbrol enamels.
Just some minor touching up to do.
These bins, as binoculars are popularly known among birders, are focused on an American Goldfinch--not a real bird, of course, but a realistic plastic model.

I weathered this USA Trains model of a 50' double-door boxcar. I think this will fit right in with a Penn Central or early Conrail freight train.
My 1/48 scale Otaki/Arii Spitfire Mk VIII is almost finished. The 79 Squadron RAAF markings are from Eduard, and the model is brush painted.
This weekend was my friend's annual open house for his garden railroad. Among the custom rolling stock and locos was this transfer caboose he built. A 3D-printed version of my friend and his fiancée rides on the rear platform.
