My castle cuts a fine, epic and heroic figure in front of yesterday's supermoon.
This castle is really mine, and it's usually located in the miniature railway layout that I put every year for Christmas under the tree :-) It's a HO Scale Faller model kit, about 13 cm. high, that I built many years ago. The moon is the authentic and genuine yesterday's super moon, although the photograph can also be made with a slice of mortadella simulating the moon if you haven't any moon picture available :-)
It's a single capture, taken with my Canon 50D+ Canon 70-200 f/4 L, of the Castle miniature model placed in front of my computer monitor screen with the picture of the moon on it.

Autumn 1941, Eastern Front. Soldier Wilhelm, on a reconnaissance mission, began to feel the cold wind that boded the harshness of the approaching winter... "It will be a hard one", he thought... Wilhelm was afraid he couldn't get back home for Christmas...
In actual fact, the soldier is a 1/35 scale miniature figure (about 1,77 inch. tall) of a German soldier from the early years of World War II, made by the Japanese brand Tamiya, that I assembled and painted in my youth times when scale modeling was my main hobby.
I used a Helios 44M 58mm f/2 Russian classic manual focus lens (M42) mounted on my Sony ILCE-5100; vignetting was achieved straight out of the camera, with an adapter ring provided with aperture diaphragm.
My thanks to my daughter Irene, for helping me to control the camera while I was illuminating Wilhelm with my Mini Maglite flashlight :-)

In actual fact, it is a detailed and faithful reproduction in 1/72 scale of that plane, a plastic model kit by the Italian brand Esci that I built and painted 30 years ago, when scale modelling was my main hobby. The actual size of this model is about 9x12 cm.
I photographed it somewhat backlit looking for a more dramatic atmosphere in the composition, in accordance with those convulsive war times. A curious fact is that the ground was simulated with ground cinnamon :-)
I have to thank my good friend Antonio for lending me his excellent Tamron Adaptall SP 90mm f/2.5 Macro 52B that I used mounted on my Sony ILCE 5100 to take this picture.

This is a 1:9 scale plastic model kit of a Harley-Davidson WWII motorcycle.
This is an Italian made kit from the maker ITALERI and measures 25.4cm or about 10" in length.
This is not the first military model that I have built but one that I am happy with the way it came out. I painted most all the parts with an air brush using Vallejo acrylic paints and hand painting details.
There were about 230 parts in this kit which included the rubber tires. There was a fair amount of fitting and filing to clean up the individual components. Decals were provided for the US Army markings.
One of the aspects I enjoy of building military models is weathering them to look like they have been used in battle.

DSC_0385: Another one of my #StarWars #MPC #plasticModelKits from the late #1970s. I rescued this and other models from the attic at my parent's house in November 2016 after being in storage for over 30 years. I remember humming and hawing over the price of this model kit at Towers Department Store when I was quite young. I think it was somewhere around $30 CDN in the late 1970s when I wasn't even a teenager, so the price seemed very expensive and I had to convince my parents to give me the money to buy it. It took some convincing, but they thought model making was a good hobby, so eventually I got it. I remember going back to the model section of the department store every time we were there to see if it was still there since there was only one in stock.
A teaser for something I'm working on.
Recreation of bits of the Battle of Hoth using old 1980s MPC plastic model kits, but animated. Stay tuned!
Monogram produced unassembled plastic kit versions of three Masters of the Universe vehicles in 1983 and 1984. The kits were the same size as the original Mattel toys, so the action figures could be used with the completed models.
Each kit was available in two color combinations. The parts for each kit were all in one mold. So, all the parts would be molded in one color, then everything would be molded in a second color. The parts were then divided into two halves, A and B, and packed out so that 50% the kits got the A parts in the first color and the B parts in the second color. The remaining 50% of the kits got the reverse color combination, A parts in the second color and B parts in the first! And yes, some collectors sought both versions.
This was the top stage of the XSL-01 sold separately with a new display stand. Color scheme and decals were also new.

This was one of the very first Japanese science fiction kits that I ever owned. (A few Imai Thunderbird kits preceded it by several months.) I found it at the legendary, five story Polk’s toy and hobby store in Manhattan on July 20, 1968. Nat Polk was always getting samples of model kits and toys; the odds and ends that didn’t get ordered in quantity usually wound up on the store shelves at pretty low prices. The Delta-3 kit was such a “one of” and cost me $1.00.
I found the vehicle design and box art (by Shusei Nagaoka) to be outstanding. Unfortunately, the parts in the kit bore just a superficial resemblance to the illustration and the model never got built.
This was one of four kits in the original "Lindy Loonys" series first released in 1964. The kits were renamed and repackaged many times over the decades.

Part 1 of a video I shot showing the details on my late 1970s era Star Wars Millennium Falcon plastic model kit that I made when I was a young boy 35+ years ago. This model and several others like it were stored in the attic at my parent's house in Nova Scotia. 2 weeks ago I was visiting and found them in the attic. This needs quite a bit of work. The transmitter dish on the top was broken off (I still have most of it), and the gun for the lower gun turret is detached. Also, the landing gear are missing, and the engine no longer lights up. I hope to eventually fix it up over the next next few months/years. Maybe involving some 3D scanning and printing to replace some of the parts, and some rewiring of the lighting.
This model comes from a time just after the initial success of Star Wars and (I think) before Empire Strikes Back was released. I remember going to the scale model section of the Towers Department store in New Minas and seeing this huge box with the Falcon in it (there was only one) on the shelf and looking at the gigantic price tag of something like $24 CDN at the time and wondering how would I ever pay for such a thing. Luckily, my parents bought it for me eventually, after I kept going back to the modelling section of the Toy Department each time we visited the store to make sure that the model was still there.
This is my second montage. The background is an HDR of a building in destruction in Brussels.
The mecha is a model 1/60 of Gundam Exia from Gundam 00, and the pilot is myself.
Please feel free to give me some comments. Thanks for watching...
