Mallow (lat. Malva), or kalachik, or stem-rose - the type genus of the Malvaceae family - a herbaceous plant, usually annual, sometimes biennial and perennial. Today, about 30 species of mallow grow naturally in the temperate climates of North Africa, North America, Asia and Europe. Mallow was cultivated in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece: a description of the healing properties of the plant was found in the writings of Hippocrates and Pliny the Elder. In the twenties of the last century, scientists discovered ecological plasticity and high fodder qualities in mallow. And large bright pink flowers have always aroused the admiration of artists who depicted them in paintings, and poets who sang about them in verse.
Mallow has long been known in folk medicine. The beneficial properties of mallow have been studied by healers in many countries. For example, an infusion of mallow flowers and leaves cures stomach inflammation and intestinal disorders. Hot baths with steamed leaves or flowers of mallow (mallow) help relieve swelling of the spleen. The forest mallow grass is a constant component of chest collections.

Watching this travel program which reminds me of this wonderful artwork that is on the UNESCO.

"Apartment block built between 1906 and 1910 in Barcelona for the Milà family.
The façade is an impressive wave-like mass of rough-shipped stone.The windows and doors seem to be dug out of this stone mass and are trimmed in exquisitely crafted wrought iron work with vegetal forms on the balconies and astonishing grilles on the two street-doors.
On the stepped terrace, coming as an elegant surprise are the huge stair exits of sculptured spirals and faced with broken ceramics and marble. The chimneys bring to mind knights wearing visors.
All of this makes up a fantastic and futurist space. The interior marine decoration - ceilings, columns and the furniture designed by Gaudi for this house are extremely modern. The Mila apartments measured 1,323 squares meters, a really vast place.
Casa Milà was classified as World Heritage in the1984 UNESCO Catalogue.
Gaudí was born in 1852 in Reus, a small town south of Barcelona, and he died in a street accident in 1926. The intellectual context towards the end of the 19th century in Catalonia was marked by Modernisme, a movement that extended from around 1880 to the First World War, parallel to currents such as Naturalism, Arts and Crafts, and Art Nouveau. It was motivated by return to traditions as an expression of national identity, as well as by the introduction of modern techniques and materials. Modernisme differed from the other movements by becoming important for popular cultural identity. Gaudí's work represents the genius of the architect, expressing particular spatial qualities and plasticity in the undulating lines and harmonies of colours and materials in architectural surfaces and sculpted features."
I recently heard from one of my Flickr friends (Hi, Pier!) a mention of my toys, particularly those from Murano :))
This is very interesting, and I have to admit that I have plenty of "toys" in fact, not all of them from the delicious Venetian island, but lots of glass gadgets.
Glass is my favorite raw material, perhaps for its plasticity, and for the beauty with which it captures (or reflects) colors. I worked some years with painting and glass fusion and it was a creative and rewarding time for me.
For the Macro Mondays group this week, who is able to guess? :)) Two more photos with glass: a pendant (less than 1inch) made by talented and unknown North American hands, and a Venetian chandelier pendant reflecting a blue surface.
The recesses (in the red pendant) and scratches (in the Venetian one) are from the action of fire in the first, and from years of use in the second.

Culex pipiens is the common house mosquito—the one that tries to bite you at night and wakes you up with its dreadful buzzing. The typical behavioural pattern of this nocturnal pest is to come into our houses and attack us between sunset and sunrise. A single Culex pipiens, eager to get enough blood to lay its eggs, can ruin your night with multiple bites: the female of the species needs this blood meal to complete her biological cycle. Like those of other mosquito species, the larvae of Culex pipiens are aquatic and can develop anywhere water collects, in any kind of container, gutter or structure. Consequently, mosquitos are found everywhere. Moreover, they can inhabit either clean or polluted waters, even cesspools and poorly maintained sewers.
Curiously, in today’s media-saturated world, we are easily alarmed by the transmission of exotic viruses like Zika but have failed to notice that this mosquito and another of the same genus—Culex perexiguus—have been spreading West Nile virus in Andalusia and nearby regions since at least 2010. In Spain, West Nile virus has been affecting horses since at least 2010 and cases in humans were reported in 2010 and in 2016. Continuous outbreaks throughout Europe—in countries such as Greece, Romania and Italy—have claimed dozens of lives.
In various parts of the world, Culex species have been responsible for spreading encephalitis, including the Saint Louis and Japanese variants (the latter causes more than 50,000 cases and 10,000 deaths each year). These mosquitos are also responsible for the spread of West Nile virus, which has affected more than 40,000 people in the United States since it first reached the country in 1999. The common house mosquito also spreads filarial worms—including Dirofilaria immitis, which affects dogs—and several Plasmodium species that cause avian malaria.
Culex pipiens is a very adaptive species. Some of its ecological forms prefer to feed on birds at northern latitudes but are more likely to bite humans at latitudes farther south. The mosquito’s appetite can also vary depending on where the larvae develop. For example, mosquitos that mature in an underground environment where organic matter is present will be more likely to feed on humans than on birds. Because of this plasticity, the common house mosquito can act as a bridge vector, spreading viruses between different animal species—including humans.

All physical damage begins on the atomic level, with the shifting or breaking of atomic bonds, and the rate at which damage to any physical thing occurs is therefore largely dependent on the elasticity of such bonds in the material being subjected to stress. Damage can occur where atomic bonds are not completely broken, but are shifted to create unstable pockets of concentration and diffusion of the material, which are more susceptible to later breakage. The effect of outside forces on a material depends on the relative elasticity or plasticity of the material; if a material tends towards elasticity, then changes to its consistency are reversible, and it can bounce back from potential damage. However, if the material tends towards plasticity, then such changes are permanent, and each such change increases the possibility of a crack or fault appearing in the material.
What we got here in little world is trully a crime. Someone damaged the old stilled lightbulb and left away with all the trash. This brings up another case for the CSI-Crime Team. Hope they catch the responsible person as sooon as possible :)

Weil Städte dichter besiedelt werden und Fläche zu einem wertvollen Gut geworden ist, entwickeln sich neue Wohnmodelle. Genau wie bei Autos und Fahrrädern ist Sharing das Stichwort – mal mehr, mal weniger radikal. Ein aktuelles Beispiel dafür liefern zwei Wohnhochhäuser in München mit dem Namen Friends. Hier werden nicht nur die Dachterrassen und das Fitnessstudio geteilt – in der gemeinschaftlichen Kitchenlounge können die Bewohner Freunde und Familie bekochen.
Die Fassade aus gefalteten Erkern, deren Anzahl nach oben hin zunimmt, macht die beiden 53 Meter hohen Türme schon aus der Ferne gut erkennbar. Das rhythmische Vor- und Zurückspringen der geschosshohen Fensterelemente kreiert eine einzigartige Plastizität mit reliefartiger Wirkung. Das Architekturbüro Allmann Sattler Wappner folgte bei der Konzeption der Fassade aber nicht nur einem gestalterischen Motiv, sondern erkannte einen räumlichen Mehrwert der erkerartigen Austritte für die Bewohner: Anstellte eines klassischen Geradeaus-Ausblicks bietet die Faltung ein weites Panorama und eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Sichtbezüge zur umgebenden Stadt und der Natur um München herum.
Because cities are becoming more densely populated and space has become a valuable commodity, new housing models are developing. Just as with cars and bicycles, sharing is the keyword - sometimes more, sometimes less radical. A current example of this is provided by two high-rise residential buildings in Munich called Friends. Here, not only the roof terraces and the gym are shared - in the communal kitchen lounge, residents can cook for friends and family.
The facade of folded bays, whose number increases towards the top, makes the two 53-metre-high towers easily recognisable from a distance. The rhythmic jumping back and forth of the storey-high window elements creates a unique plasticity with a relief-like effect. When designing the façade, the architects Allmann Sattler Wappner not only followed a design motif, but also recognised a spatial added value of the bay window-like exits for the residents: instead of a classic straight-ahead view, the folding offers a wide panorama and a variety of different visual references to the surrounding city and the nature around Munich.

Organische Struktur
Die homogen gestaltete Fassade wirkt nicht nur leicht und transparent, sondern umgibt den geschwungenen Baukörper mit einer poetisch-organischen Hülle, die ihm Plastizität verleiht. Dabei erscheint sie nicht ornamental. Sie ist viel mehr als große organische Struktur entworfen, die den Anschein erweckt, als würde sie atmen. Es ging darum, eine „Haut“ als Fassade zu entwickeln, die licht- und luftdurchlässig ist. Die Schuppung steht für das Organ Haut. Assoziationen zur Natur, wie beispielsweise zu Libellenflügeln, sind erwünscht. Das Oberflächenrelief infolge der Auffächerung der Flügel bzw. Schuppen wirkt plastisch und atmungsaktiv. Die Fassadenhaut eignet sich besonders für geschwungene Grundrisskonturen. Ihre poetische Ausstrahlung enthebt das Parkhaus einem reinen Zweckbauniveau.
Konstruktive Umsetzung
Im Zuge der Formfindung musste ein Element gefunden werden, das einerseits konstruktiv und architektonisch die Rundungen der Fassade nachzeichnet, andererseits auch das Erscheinungsbild nach außen unterstreicht. Hierfür wurde eine Konstruktion gewählt, die auf dem Thema von Fischschuppen basiert. Für die Übersetzung dieses Prinzips wurden rund 3.000 lasergeschnittene Paneele mit Randverstärkung aus Lochblech gefertigt, welche über Schraubbolzen mit der darunterliegenden Pfosten-Riegel-Konstruktion aus Metall verbunden wurden. Die kiemenartigen Öffnungen sowie der Lochanteil der Bleche selbst gewährleisten dabei die notwendige, natürliche Durchströmung des Parkhauses mit Luft und zugleich die natürliche Belichtung des Innern. Durch die Überlappung der Bleche entstanden interessante geometrische Muster, die bei Dunkelheit eine sinnliche, zeichenhafte Symbolik entwickeln. Das Befestigungssystem erlaubt eine flexible Montage und Wartung der Paneele. Durch den Einsatz von Gewindestangen war die Montage aus verschiedenen Richtungen möglich. Unterschiedliche Winkel bei identischen Elementen konnten ausgeglichen werden.

The homogeneously designed facade not only appears light and transparent, but also surrounds the curved building with a poetic-organic shell that gives it plasticity. It does not appear ornamental. It is designed much more as a large organic structure that appears to breathe. The aim was to develop a "skin" as a facade that is permeable to light and air. The scaling represents the skin organ. Associations with nature, such as dragonfly wings, are encouraged. The surface relief due to the fanning out of the wings or scales has a plastic and breathable effect. The facade skin is particularly suitable for curved floor plan contours. Its poetic charisma lifts the multi-storey car park from a purely functional level.
Constructive implementation
In the course of finding the form, an element had to be found that, on the one hand, structurally and architecturally traces the curves of the facade, and on the other hand underlines the outward appearance. A construction based on the theme of fish scales was chosen for this purpose. For the translation of this principle, around 3,000 laser-cut panels with edge reinforcement were made of perforated sheet metal, which were connected to the underlying metal mullion-transom construction with screw bolts. The gill-like openings and the perforated portion of the sheets themselves ensure the necessary, natural flow of air through the car park and at the same time the natural lighting of the interior. The overlapping of the metal sheets resulted in interesting geometric patterns that develop a sensuous, emblematic symbolism in the dark. The fastening system allows flexible assembly and maintenance of the panels. The use of threaded rods made assembly from different directions possible. Different angles in identical elements could be compensated.

This is very interesting, and I have to admit that I have plenty of "toys" in fact, not all of them from the delicious Venetian island, but lots of glass gadgets.
Glass is my favorite raw material, perhaps for its plasticity, and for the beauty with which it captures (or reflects) colors. I worked some years with painting and glass fusion and it was a creative and rewarding time for me.

Tomioka 55mm f1.2 is even more enjoyable lens to make monochrome photos. If used with hood and at good distance it will produce fine grays with a lot of plasticity. Signature bokeh is there but reduced to essentials.
I even succeed to focus on something, even if it is just a single leaf here and there.

The Monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena is a large monastery of the Dominican Second Order, located in Arequipa, Peru.
This is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Historical Centre of the City of Arequipa".
The charm of this citadel lies in the solidity and plasticity of its volumes, and the beauty that master builders achieved in the architecture of these enclosures through solutions such as flying buttresses or the construction of strong arches based on pillars.
In the interiors, domes and vaulted ceilings greatly expand the space and add to the sense of strength of the buildings. Likewise, especially in the area of the alleys, the intervention of masons who, lacking a proper architectural design, were raising walls, roofs, cells, patios and portals of a simple approach is perceived.
The current building houses splendid pieces of art, such as a Baroque altar of carved and gilt wood, with one body and three lanes, which adorns the chapel, and several paintings from the Cusco School.
Due to the constant earthquakes that affected the monastery, the families of the nuns chose to build unique and private cells for each one of them. What caused there to be ordered sectors and in the absence of a plan others with a notorious disorder. For almost two centuries during the colony, the cloisters and cells of the monastery have undergone various modifications, additions and new constructions that have made Santa Catalina a counter on a human scale of Arequipa's colonial architecture.

The 5th and final instalment of "Pano-Portraiture" for now. I wanted to employ pano-sabotage in the service of portraiture, although none of these images are of actual people.
Mannequins are a very convenient way to achieve human imagery, whether the full figure is used or faces are zoomed in on, like this series. The very plasticity of the images furnishes its own ironic comment in itself, and the sabotage creates yet another layer.

Its name literally means “Our Lady of the Side Gate” in Greek, as its entrance was found in the side gate of the entrance to the Kastro area.
The lovely church of Panagia (Virgin Mary) Paraportiani is among the most photographed churches not only in Mykonos, but in the whole world. It is located at the entrance of Kastro neighbourhood, right by the sea.
The white-washed building is in fact a complex consisting of five chapels divided into two levels. The five churches were not contructed at once, but gradually along centuries. The oldest church is Agios Anargyros, which was built in late 14th century. The other churches were built in the 16th and the 17th century, while there were renovations till 1920. The church of Agios Efstathios is the centre of this complex, surrounded by the churches of Agios Anargyros, Agios Sozon and Agia Anastasia. On top of these four churches, there is the church of Virgin Mary, which looks like a dome.
Panagia Paraportiani is one of the most characteristic images of Mykonos and it cannot go unnoticed thanks to its dazzling white color and its Cycladic plasticity. Virgin Mary was named Paraportiani after “paraporti”, which is a tiny entrance to the castle, while as for its 300 years old miraculous icon.
Weil Städte dichter besiedelt werden und Fläche zu einem wertvollen Gut geworden ist, entwickeln sich neue Wohnmodelle. Genau wie bei Autos und Fahrrädern ist Sharing das Stichwort – mal mehr, mal weniger radikal. Ein aktuelles Beispiel dafür liefern zwei Wohnhochhäuser in München mit dem Namen Friends. Hier werden nicht nur die Dachterrassen und das Fitnessstudio geteilt – in der gemeinschaftlichen Kitchenlounge können die Bewohner Freunde und Familie bekochen.
Die Fassade aus gefalteten Erkern, deren Anzahl nach oben hin zunimmt, macht die beiden 53 Meter hohen Türme schon aus der Ferne gut erkennbar. Das rhythmische Vor- und Zurückspringen der geschosshohen Fensterelemente kreiert eine einzigartige Plastizität mit reliefartiger Wirkung. Das Architekturbüro Allmann Sattler Wappner folgte bei der Konzeption der Fassade aber nicht nur einem gestalterischen Motiv, sondern erkannte einen räumlichen Mehrwert der erkerartigen Austritte für die Bewohner: Anstellte eines klassischen Geradeaus-Ausblicks bietet die Faltung ein weites Panorama und eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Sichtbezüge zur umgebenden Stadt und der Natur um München herum.
Because cities are becoming more densely populated and space has become a valuable commodity, new housing models are developing. Just as with cars and bicycles, sharing is the keyword - sometimes more, sometimes less radical. A current example of this is provided by two high-rise residential buildings in Munich called Friends. Here, not only the roof terraces and the gym are shared - in the communal kitchen lounge, residents can cook for friends and family.
The facade of folded bays, whose number increases towards the top, makes the two 53-metre-high towers easily recognisable from a distance. The rhythmic jumping back and forth of the storey-high window elements creates a unique plasticity with a relief-like effect. When designing the façade, the architects Allmann Sattler Wappner not only followed a design motif, but also recognised a spatial added value of the bay window-like exits for the residents: instead of a classic straight-ahead view, the folding offers a wide panorama and a variety of different visual references to the surrounding city and the nature around Munich.

About this weed
This perennial grass was originally introduced from tropical Africa and the Middle East but is now widespread in disturbed areas on the Swan Coastal Plain and as far north as Geraldton. It was originally used for ornamental purposes and sand binding. Is declared a noxious weed in New South Wales and Queensland. It out competes native plants and increases fuel loads in summer and autumn.
Description
This tufted, perennial appears in spring and actively grows through till the end of summer. Water availability (particularly wetter summers) affects seed production and may favour the spread of seed. Seed set can occur without fertilisation. Seedlings readily establish in wetter years and then become drought tolerant in drier years, allowing it to maintain dominance over other grasses.
Impact on Bushland
Fountain Grass readily out-competes native plants and can alter nutrient cycling and increase fire fuel loads. It has a high phenotypic plasticity – Phenotypic plasticity refers to some of the changes in an organism’s behavior, morphology and physiology in response to a unique environment (source en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenotypic_plasticity). It recovers well from defoliation by rapidly reshooting and flowering.
The Spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta), also known as the laughing hyena, is a hyena species, currently classed as the sole extant member of the genus Crocuta, native to sub-Saharan Africa.
The spotted hyena is a highly successful animal, being the most common large carnivore in Africa. Its success is due in part to its adaptability and opportunism; it is primarily a hunter but may also scavenge, with the capacity to eat and digest skin, bone and other animal waste. In functional terms, the spotted hyena makes the most efficient use of animal matter of all African carnivores. The spotted hyena displays greater plasticity in its hunting and foraging behaviour than other African carnivores; it hunts alone, in small parties of 2-5 individuals or in large groups. During a hunt, spotted hyenas often run through ungulate herds in order to select an individual to attack. Once selected, their prey is chased over a long distance, often several kilometres, at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

I don't think there is even one Megapixel in this image. Perhaps half of it. We don't need that much light and pixels to create the plasticity of a shape. Chiaroscuro is a technique the photographer has inherited from Italian renaissance paintings. It means to be very very economical with light and use the interplay of darkness and light to bring out the form or, as here, the face. My apologies to Carlo, of course. On the other hand, darkness and light and its interplay may be an appropriate way of describing his impact on history. This image was taken with a 16MP camera (Fuji X-E2) and a portrait lens (double exposure).

The most famous and emblematic Church of the Cyclades and, quite possibly, of Greece. A symbol and trade mark of Mykonos, but, more importatntly, a single masterpiece of folk Architecture - one of the many samples of Mykonos folk Architecture that made the famous French architect Le Corbusier say: "What Architecture had to say said it in Mykonos!".
Of Paraportiani, it is often said that its plasticity is such that it simply cannot have been constructed by human hands... and in a way this is correct, inasmuch as it has also been shaped by the whims of weather, the scarce rains and the fierce, salty Northern winds of Mykonos...

The spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta), also known as the laughing hyena, is a hyena species, currently classed as the sole extant member of the genus Crocuta, native to sub-Saharan Africa.
The spotted hyena is a highly successful animal, being the most common large carnivore in Africa. Its success is due in part to its adaptability and opportunism; it is primarily a hunter but may also scavenge, with the capacity to eat and digest skin, bone and other animal waste. In functional terms, the spotted hyena makes the most efficient use of animal matter of all African carnivores. The spotted hyena displays greater plasticity in its hunting and foraging behaviour than other African carnivores; it hunts alone, in small parties of 2-5 individuals or in large groups. During a hunt, spotted hyenas often run through ungulate herds in order to select an individual to attack. Once selected, their prey is chased over a long distance, often several kilometres, at speeds of up to 60 km/h.
