I used Smooth-On Smooth Cast 320. I do plan in casting the teeth in a transparent plastic eventually.

I've been molding and casting several pieces to my build over the past week or so and have taken some shots of the successes. Surprisingly everything turned out great for the exception of the Alien Warrior mold which I had to redo. More on that one later.

Here is a plastic casing of the four components to create the Alien Queen head and jaw. This is one of several variants that will be made to "plug and play" into the Queen's carapace.

I put one together using some of the initial pulls to get an idea how it will all work. Happy with the results. Next step will be moving onto the neck and variant head sculpts.

A few days later and I have all the casts of the carapace needed to tool the head articulation and begin the next phrase which with be sculpting the neck leading down to the chest. The casts you see here are direct pulls without any cleaning - I hope to present better images here soon. After the next phase gets to its way I’m going to get back into some shipbuilding. I have a landing leg and sleep chamber that needs major attention and I don’t want to get burned out on a single project. This is an assembled test of the parts to my 1:18 scaled Praetorian Alien from the Dark Horse comics series Aliens: Defiance. I used wire and pins to temporarily hold these cast parts together. Eventually I will use revoltech-like joints and/or borrowed articulated points from junk figures to build proper articulation. This is a plastic cast of Arki Polar Bear's paw. While under anesthesia for her physical before her move to Louisville, an imprint of her paw was made into a mold and then cast in a heavy plastic.

This was an item in the silent auction at the zoo keepers' spaghetti dinner fundraiser.

I started with the opening bid of $35, and was quickly put out of the running by a 2nd bid of $125 !!!!

Too rich for my blood even for Arki's paw !!!

Below is a photo of "Jim", Alaskan Brown Bear's Paw. These clones were huge and heavy!

There were also feet clones of the gibbon family. Benny, Indah and the 2 yr old offspring who's name I can never remember. :-)

The dinner and auction were quite successful in raising money for AAZK. (The American Association of Zoo Keepers - a nonprofit, volunteer organization made up of professional zoo keepers and other interested persons.)
