Triglyphs! Metopes! Rich Corinthian columns!

This project was the most fun to me! This piece started out as a wooden structure (first layer) then developed it's shape as I added the newspaper on top (second layer). I then covered the whole thing with chicken wire (third layer) to hold it all together. We were then instructed to cover the whole thing with strips of burlap soaked in liquid plaster (fourth layer). I enjoyed the process a lot, especially seeing it change as I added each layer. The fifth and final layer was to emphasize where it belonged. I chose for my sculpture to belong underwater in the Great Barrier Reef. The colorful aspects of it and the shiny parts helped it really blend in with its surroundings. I saw it as a nice new home for the fish swimming around and the colorful scales on the front gave it a fish-y feel. I used tissue paper for the back because it would sway underwater along with the current making it seem more alive.

The acid from cleaning the plaster was pumped out into the yard. It is tinted blue due to the color of the plaster. So now I have a blue pile of dirt.

This room was in the worst condition originally. Once the wallpaper was removed the plaster was in poor condition in spots. The wood work was all painted a dark color as well. I stripped the wood, had the plaster repaired and skim coated, then primed and painted walls and wood with safecoat enviromentally safe paint.

This is a piece of work produced as part of a mini project titled 'The Five Senses'. During this project we looked at the five senses: Sight, Sound, Taste, Smell, and Touch. We were given three compulsary materials; Stone, Polystyrene and Paper, and a choice between two other medias; Wood and Cheese. These were then paired up (Eg: Sight and Cheese) but could not be used twice (Eg: Sight and Cheese + Sight and Polystyrene / Sight and Cheese +Touch and Cheese).

This piece represents Stone and Taste. Instead of looking at the usual taste (mouth), I looked at taste in music, and made a speaker listing a variety of music genres. It was created in Plaster as a maquette, due to it being a short, mini-project, being but a few weeks in length.
