This was a whole school Christmas project 24 children and a bucket load of Mod Roc. The hats are hollow and hold a candle.
Plaster casts of three hands made by my daughter. Myself, my wife and our grandson when he was still quite small.

The kids looked at the work of the Scottish Eduardo Paolozzi. They pressed various tools, fixings and wooden shapes into clay and used them to make a plaster cast,creating a low relief plaque.

The plaster was removed with a pry bar. A tarp was laid down over the stairs. Eye protection and a face mask (respirator) was used. It came out rather easily

It still needs some polishing, but this is pretty much how the final piece will look. Its a carving based on Klimt's paintings of the Tree of Life.
