Cuando por la mañana nos despertamos y nos enteramos que estaba circulando el balastero de Caminreal a Zaragoza Plaza, no dudamos en salir hacia el central de Aragón para pillarlo como se debía. Con bastante poco margen de tiempo y sin muchas esperanzas de que apareciera algún rayo de sol porque en Zaragoza estaba completamente gris, fuimos hasta Cariñena donde encontramos este paso elevado, y en el cual subiéndonos al techo del famoso Auris para coger algo más de altura pudimos encajar milimétricamente la 333.357 con el balastero entre la maleza de la vía y el arbusto del fondo finalmente con sol.

Ruta cuyo itinerario discurre en el entorno de las pistas de esquí nórdico de Llanos del Hospital en el Valle de Benasque. La ruta tiene su inicio en el Plan del Hospital atravesando en su recorrido bellos parajes como el Plan de Estan y el Plan de la Besurta para llegar finalmente hasta el espectacular Plan d´Aiguallut con magnificas vistas al pico Aneto. Se trata de recorrer una parte del conocido como Camino dels Aranesos que originalmente unía el Plan del Hospital con el Valle de Arán.
El recorrido se divide en tres tramos, un primer tramo muy corto y sencillo hasta el Plan de l'Estan, un segundo tramo tambien muy sencillo hasta la Besurta y un tramo final algo más exigente aunque accesible a cualquier senderista acostumbrado a la montaña hasta el Forau d´Aiguallut.
Route whose itinerary runs around the Nordic ski slopes of Llanos del Hospital in the Benasque Valley. The route begins in the Pllan del Hospital, passing through beautiful places such as the Plan de Estan and the Plan de la Besurta to finally reach the spectacular Plan d'Aiguallut with magnificent views of the Aneto peak. It involves walking through a part of what is known as the Camino dels Aranesos, which originally linked the Hospital Plan with the Aran Valley.
The route is divided into three sections, a first very short and easy section to Plan de l'Estan, a second section that is also very simple to Besurta and a final section that is somewhat more demanding although accessible to any hiker accustomed to the mountains until the Forau d'Aiguallut.
J'ai photographié en gros plan cette rose dans les Alpes de Haute-Provence, sur le village de Pierrevert.
A pair of Canada Geese nested on one of the downed trees which is about all that is left of Island Pond. You can see what looks like a single egg here. After a week with heavy rains the nest got flooded out and the egg was gone.

Ibon is the name given in the Aragonese Pyrinees to these kind of small mountain lakes. This Ibon (Lake) of Plan is 2,000 meters high, surrounded by mountains and already frozen early in November.

Ibon es el nombre que se les da a los lagos de alta montaña en el Pirineo Aragonés. El Ibon de Plan está a una altitud de casi 2.000 metros, y ya congelado a principios de noviembre.

Por la carretera hacia Hecho, pasado Embún, nos encontramos con el rio Oria que forma el valle donde se asientan Jasa y Aragües del Puerto. Esa estrecha y pintoresca carretera, con abundantes bosques de variada vegetación, acaba en un amplio aparcamiento junto al refugio de Lizara y la mole calcárea del macizo de Bisaurín que lo preside. Un encuadre fotográfico de gran belleza. Allí, en el colmado aparcamiento nos dejó el autobús a los 26 senderistas bien dispuestos a disfrutar y ponernos otra vez en forma.
Por detrás del refugio una pista sube al collado del Foratón, a nuestra izquierda, que nos llevaría al valle de Hecho. Superando el collado del Bozo, el de nuestra derecha, entraríamos en el valle de Aisa, pero nosotros debemos tomar una senda que nos indica al Valle de los Sarrios y que se introduce por el Barranco del Puerto pasando bajo los paredones del Bisaurín y las Fetas.
La agreste canal se va superando por alguna zona herbosa que alterna con otras pedregosas, fáciles de caminar pues el terreno es bastante estable y las piedras pequeñas. Al alcanzar el abrupto y llamativo peñasco que parecía cerrarnos el paso, la subida se suaviza y volvemos a caminar entre soleados pastizales. En uno de ellos almorzamos.
De nuevo la senda gana altura entre lazadas y nos lleva a un curioso refugio por su forma y estructura. Todo se aclara cuando alguien dice que en su tiempo fue un cuartel de carabineros que controlaba el paso por la zona pues cerca de aquí esta el ibón de Estanés que limita con Francia.
Muy poco después un amplio circo glacial se presenta ante nosotros: Plana Mistresa. A la izquierda el collado de Secús, de frente la muralla pétrea de Bernera y a la derecha una senda sube con suavidad en dirección a la escarpada sierra de Olibón que conforma la cabecera del llamativo Valle de los Sarrios. Pero este recorrido lo dejamos para otra ocasión.

After missing the intended shot at Mississippi on Gateway State Trail due to not being able to find a place to park in time, I settled on the overpass at Dayton's Bluff as a last resort. Here the BNCP transfer, lead by a pair of ex Santa Fe warbonnet B40-8Ws, heads into St. Paul Yard to interchange with the Canadian Pacific. Though I did shoot 558 over the summer, seeing it paired up to another warbonnet dash 8 makes this even better. Thanks to Garrett for dropping me off at this spot, and for being my twin cities tour guide for the weekend!
This was not my morning planned photo – I had planned to shoot the Singapore city skyline from one of the docks. But there was early morning activity on the bay and a boat was docked right where I had planned to shoot.
So Plan B, I returned to the Dragonfly Bridge at Gardens by the Bay and hoped for a nice sunrise scene.
This will absolutely and positively be the last of my wood duck post for a long while. I just found this image in a bunch of second culls, and I like it. I had a great time photographing the "Wood Ducks of the Wissahickon" in late winter. They are breeding now at this location and you can no longer get the same shots as in early March. I plan to go back in May to photograph the chicks. I am also thinking about a coffee table book about my time with these ducks. View large for rainbow colors ~!

What a perfect plan that a Long-tailed Weasel who is typically brown and yellow in the warmer months, turns snow white in the Winter (except for a black tip on the end of his tail).
What a grand and amazing plan it is to have built-in camouflage by the season. Some believe that it is just nature’s way, but I choose to believe that it is a grand and intricate plan of a higher order.
