After my wife retires this year, we will be moving to a new home. (Yes, we are very, very lucky people.) Visiting the lot in its current state shows only a hydrant in place. As I am terrible around the house, and pretty much terrible at everything, I think the hydrant is perfect. It warns us that I am likely to burn the new place down by simply changing a light bulb. #planningahead

LOL...everytime I see a coneflower i think of a little notecard holder... (just being silly today)

Actually, that's a stinking lie. I'm not making plans at all. I just had to take some photos to illustrate a newsletter about coursework deadlines that is going out to Year 11. As I actually took a photo that is safe for my 365, I thought I'd use it.

I'm also celebrating by doing something that I've never been able to do before. Liverpool Council, god bless them, have finally got round to setting up individual filtering rules for schools, so you can choose which sites you want blocking and unblocking for your own school only.

This means that we've been able to unblock Youtube so staff can use it as an educational resource and then we can block it ourselves to students. Similarly, I've now got Flickr unblocked, so I can pull down CC photos to use in our publications. And upload my own. :)

Plans are afoot to transform the heart of the community after an explosion which can only be described as the largest explosion on Merseyside since WW2. It tore the heart out of New Ferry's shopping district and destroyed many homes on Mother's Day 2017, (25th March), including some in the historic Port Sunlight Village.

An insurance claim that went wrong !

Nah, we haven't done it yet. :)

Before you can get wed you have to give notice, and you can do that up to a year in advance. Unfortunately you have to do it in the area in which you live, so it was a trip to the really classy Register Office (not Registry Office it seems) in the Cotton Exchange. In fairness, it's really nice inside, just bloody awful on the outside. I think Brougham Terrace was nicer, as you got those lovely steps outside, but that was probably a bit grotty inside.

Anyway, we're done. Stage One complete and £60 of the wedding budget gone. ;)

I took a walk out to the local nature reserve yesterday and passed through the local allotments. (there is a permissive path through them) This upturned wheel barrow really caught my eye. Partly because of the interesting curves, the geometry and the patches of rust, but also because it conveys a story - this particular gardener had clearly planned for the snow, and by turning his/her barrow upside down saved themselves the task of needing to empty the snow/water out of it later! :-)

Now this is a snapshot that I am sure many college students are all too familiar with: studying. Taken in my own dorm room in Torres House on North campus, this snapshot illustrates a time when I dedicated part of my Saturday morning/afternoon to studying for a Physiology exam and midterm before a football game. If this were me last year, I would have never taken time away from visiting with friends to stay locked up inside my room on a beautiful day to do schoolwork. I normally would have put the reviewing and studying off until Sunday night or early during the next week instead; but this year is so much more challenging and difficult than my freshman year. I have had to adjust my social life, my personal life, my sleep schedule, my study schedule, and my eating schedule all in the name of getting an "A." I feel as if most college students see the weekend (and most of college for that matter) as a time to relax, decompress, and have fun, but I wanted to save myself the hassle and the stress in the long-run by getting a chunk of my studying done ahead of time. This is new for me, because I did not have to study much throughout high school to get straight A's and a 4.0; but coming to Ohio State has drastically changed that. Now, I need to review material daily and plan studying for an exam a week in advance. At first this was hard for me to swallow, but now I have grown to be way more independent and responsible. From trying a new dessert flavor to studying on a game day, this snapshot really shows how I have begun to do what is best for me in the long-run first and put my wants and desires second. I am going to have to work hard in order to play hard, and that is a fact that I have come to understand and accept more and more each day.

I wouldn't be let into the country if I forgot the supplies.

Yoko Ono's wish tree in Washington DC fascinates me - some wishes are serious, some are whimsical.

the size of that box is not fucking funny at all, i nearly fainted.

My friends who are in Cleveland or in the state of Ohio may makes notes on this calendar or here in comments to make me or others aware of fun events going on through the month of October.

One day I'll find the accessory that will put me just over the top.

Funeral arrangements can be hard to think about

This is a very difficult topic for many, but planning some of the details can be a great relief to your survivors.

I wouldn't have believed this if I hadn't seen it. Typo? Planning ahead?!

we were commenting that corona needs lime, when jens produced pre-cut lime wedges. respect! that's planning.

My birthday isn't until October but I've nearly completed all the goals set on my last birthday. I am now planning ahead for the following year. I told J one of them and he thought I meant a race using this. I guess he didn't take me too seriously. :-) I'll show him!
