This poor Eastern Phoebe looks a little raggedy and I would have passed it up except it had an insect in its beak and the more I looked at it, the more I believe it to be a horsefly with eyes of green and black stripes. What I found interesting is that the Phoebe didn't just chuck it back but had it in its bill for at least a minute. I thought that was interesting but have no idea why the bird would do that. Was it just enjoying the capture? But, in the end, thank you to the Phoebe because I hate the bite of horseflies. There's one less thanks to you!

Contre-jour sur le lac de Créteil. En bleu pour Blue Planet

Début août, le lac a été pollué par une grande nappe d'huile : quantité de poissons et de nombreux oiseaux d'eau sont morts.

âGood news everyone! Get ready for a space journey in the 30th century!â
Hello everyone, here is the iconic Planet Express ship in a UCS version. I love the animated series and also the spaceship design, so it was a pleasure for me to accept this challenge and start the project. It was difficult for the curved profile, that is not simple to create with Lego bricks.
This is a big model: the ship counts 5112 parts and the total length is almost 1 m. For this reason it needs a very strong inner structure, as you can see from one of the pics in the album. It was totally built using Lego Digital Designer. For the moment there are no minifigs, but hopefully they could be added in the future.
Features:
- turnable turret
- mechanism to bring down the cargo elevator
- UCS plate ;)
Iâm a bit disappointed because Lego Ideas didnât approve this ship, they say the content of the project doesnât fit their standards and it could refer to politic, religion, drugs, smoking, violenceâŠ
I agree with them, but also I asked why Simpsons sets are OK for their standards: they refer to an animated series with an alcoholic father that strangles his son and makes fun of religion.
Well, anyway Iâm proud of this project. Very special thanks to my friend Gabriele Zannotti who makes stunning renders, and to my friend Davide Ruggeri for his support so far.
I hope you like it, comments are welcome!
Thank you!

This is the "little planet" version of ULM.
Saturday night, some of the members of the facebook group "Hobbyfotografen in Ulm und Umgebung" met for a little nightshot workshop which ended up in some kind of lightpainting session.
As I first didn't really feel like taking part, I didn't take my Oly with me but only my Theta S with al little tripod. Usually this is not so usefull for taking long term exposures, but this time anyhow I have managed to produce some really nice shots.
Many thanks to Benni Bayer for the idea of giving that workshop, although maybe the course of the workshop was unexpected. He has contributed the blue light for this and many other pictures.
Many thanks to Patricia Grupp who contributed a lot of lightpainting equipment and experience. In the shot above, she wrote the word "Ulm" which I only realized in the result.
And finally also many thanks to all the others (who also can also be found on the picture). That evening was fun!
Buona giornata

Never built a VV before and Simon is to blame for this one. ;)
I do love the ice planet color combo and had a mental note to use these Ninjago trans orange parts. Besides I've been enjoying Chris's recent Ice Planet mechs!
I'll post more angles on my Insta but wanted to get this up here before I totally miss NoVVember!

This is one of my best composition in 2015, I composed this image by using a marble and a compact disc,to get the flame effect i melt the centre part of the cd and fixed the marble in the hole and applied light. No photoshop tricks.

This is the same apple as in the "Rainbow Apple", but with some more fun in photoshop... It was made out of a HDR shot of an apple in a similar setup as the "Sigma 70-300 APO..." photo. The credit for the superimposed map goes to NASA....
I made a tutorial on DPS for this image: check it out!

Yesterday's rural-exploration day-trip to Saskatchewan was christened with this find very close to the Manitoba border. We left Winnipeg at 4:30 a.m. and returned around 11 p.m. after shooting 9 different locations. I'm still recovering from the trip but am already thinking of doing it again.
Looks best in full screen.
