Tkp-5485 was built in 1959 by Fabryka Lokomotyw, Chrzanow for the PKP (Polish State Railways) as one of their powerful Tkp Class 0-8-0T Locomotives. The locomotive worked in the Silesian (Slask) coalfields in Bytom for all of its working life until withdrawal from service in 1995.
The locomotive was purchased privately and moved to the UK for preservation, first going to the Llangollen Railway for restoration and afterwards it moved to the Nene Valley Railway where it is still based today under new ownership and going strong following its second overhaul a few years ago.

Tijdens het bezoek aan Polen van 16 - 19 januari werd niet alleen aandacht besteed aan de wadlopers, maar ook aan ander materieel.
Omdat PKP een tekort aan diesels heeft, werd uit Tsjechië o.a. deze "duikbril" gehuurd. Aan de lijn tussen Starogard Gdański en Chojnice passeert de 754 025 met de uit twee rijtuigen bestaande TLK 58110 "Bory Tucholskie". De IC zonder eerste klas is op weg van Gdynia Glowna naar Kostrzyn en heeft zojuist het zonovergoten Łag achter zich gelaten.

Na werk werd, na een melding dat PKP onderweg was, vanuit Köln naar Bösinghoven gereden.
PKP Cargo rijdt enkele keren per week een containertrein van Małaszewicze (afkomstig uit China) naar Rheinhausen. Maar op 31 maart 2020 reed de trein afwijkend door naar Neuss.

In 2012 was het Poolse PKP Cargo voor het eerst te zien op het Nederlandse spoorwegnet. De eerste jaren was dit vooral met de Poznan-shuttle, maar later volgden er ook kolen- en autotreinen. In 2016 kwam dit spotvervoer ten einde en werd de Poznan-shuttle weer volledig door ERS gereden, waarna PKP weer uit het land verdween.
Het was dan ook enigszins opvallend dat PKP in 2015 15 nieuwe Vectron-locomotieven bij Siemens bestelde, waarvan 3 machines werden uitgerust met systemen voor het Nederlandse spoor. Het duurde daarna tot 29 april 2020 voordat deze machines daadwerkelijk in Nederland te zien waren. Op die dag leverde de 193 515 een Chinese containertrein af op Tilburg Industrie. Later zouden er nog vele treinen volgden, en inmiddels is PKP meerdere keren per week met een containertrein in Tilburg te vinden. Zo was op zaterdag 7 november de 193 514 onderweg met trein 42498 (Bad Bentheim – Tilburg Industrie). Op deze foto is de trein te zien tussen Wierden en Rijssen ter hoogte van Notter.
On the 29th April 2020, PKP Cargo arrived at Tilburg Industrie with the first container train from China. Since then, multiple trains from China would follow. On Saturday 7th of November 2020, PKP’s 193 514 was on its way with such a train to Tilburg. This picture shows the convoy at Notter.

EN57-1668 as the service train for railway workers at non-existing platform 8th of Warszawa Zachodnia (West) station, ready for depart for its short route of just couple of kilometers via Warszawa Czyste (switchtower), Warszawa Szczęśliwice (passenger wagon depot main gate), Loco depot Odolany, and Warszawa Główna Towarowa section WOB (switch tower) to terminate at section WOA (main switch tower) after dozen of minutes.
The train operated several times a day, giving a lift for PKP workers (loco drivers, switcherrmen, wagon inspectors, etc.) to their place of work, usually inaccessible with "standard" means of public transport. As the train was exclusively for "initiated", it occupied no platform and everybody that knew the purpose just was coming into and waiting for depart. Also, usually no sign or destination was indicated on the front, except for "TEST" or "SERVICE TRAIN" sometimes.
The name "klasa" ("class") was a slang term for passenger wagon (as they were of 1st class or 2nd class) and it came from thew time this train was operated by standard set of loco and passenger wagon.
That day, February 20, 2000, the service of the service train was assigned to freshly overhauled EN57 electric motor unit.

EN57-1668 przy nieistniejącym peronie 8 stacji Warszawa Zachodnia (wówczas, dziś taki isntnieje!), a raczej przy jego jakimś szczątku, bo coś tam istniało, jako pociąg służbowy relacji Warszawa Zachodnia - Warszawa Główna Towarowa, z postojami: Warszawa Czyste, WGW Szczęśliwice, Lokomotywownia Odolany oraz Warszawa Odolany WOB, by skończyć przy WOA (dziś już też nieistniejącej). Pociąg kursował kilka razy w ciągu doby, a obsługiwany był jedną jednostką, głównie grzejącą to miejsce na Zachodniej. Tym razem, 20 lutego 2000 roku, była to świeża porewizyjna jednostka. Pociąg nie nosił na ogół oznaczeń, ale czasem na "rolkach" było "PRÓBA", czasem "SŁUŻBOWY".
A czemu "klasa"? Zanim obsługę pociągu przejęły jednostki, stosowano skłąd złożony ze zwykłych wagonów, które w żargonie nazywane były "klasami", stąd już prosta droga do tej nazwy.

PKP-Cargo is nog maar weinig in Nederland te zien tegenwoordig. De locs rijden alleen nog twee keer per week met de Karsnice-shuttle naar de Rotterdamse haven. In 2021 waren de loks vaker en op ander plaatsen te zien. Zo kon ik de gelukkig wel schone 193513 op 15 augustus 2021 vastleggen met een volledig beladen containertrein voor Tilburg Industrie. We zien de trein met blauwe wagens en veel blauwe containers in de boog bij Udenhout aan de fotograaf passeren.

Al sinds 2012 verschijnt PKP Cargo bij vlagen met spotvervoer op het Nederlandse spoor, maar het duurde tot 2020 totdat PKP Cargo een vaste waarde is in Nederland. Sinds het voorjaar van 2020 tot op de dag van vandaag, rijdt PKP Cargo meerdere keren per week China containertreinen tussen het Poolse Małaszewicze en Tilburg.

EIP 4150 Bielsko-Biała Główna - Warszawa Wschodnia
Am Nachmittag des 25. Mai 2019 wollte ich mir mal den Damm durch den See beim Bahnhof von Goczałkowice-Zdrój genauer anschauen. Denn was macht man an einem Samstag, wenn es auf den Güterstrecken bisher ziemlich ruhig gewesen ist. Richtig!... Man stellt sich an eine Strecke wo auch eine Fensterzüge fahren. So kam es, bevor das Gewitter von Norden hereinzog und alles verdunkelte, dass noch zwei Elektrotirebwagen auf die SD-Karte gespeichert werden konnten. Einen Mod-Kibel von KSL und der obige Pendolino machten sich dort ganz gut. Es ist vorallem mein erstes und bisher einziges Bild eines PKP Intercity ED250 welches ich in meine Sammlung aufnehmen konnte...
Mit einem einmaligen und unverwechselbaren Sound blubbern die beiden "Krabbenkutter" der polnischen Baureihe ST43 an einem herrlichen Septembertag aus Żary heraus um weiter in Richtung Bieniów zu fahren. Die aktive Zeit vom "Rumun" bei der PKP ist leider Geschichte.
Unglamourous and grimy, the workaday pre-parowozownia era is a very different workplace to the coming days of 'museum' status.
With the fleet of museum locos yet to arrive it is the staple Ty2/42 and Ol49 types making up the allocation at Wolsztyn for working the system of routes which will remain intact until the early 1990s.
On a typically dire day Ty42-113 (marked buffer beam), Ty2-604 and Ty42-59 (with embelishments) are each in service. Ol49-68 is mostly obscured set on the second road.

SM42-1032 switches one wagon at Białogard station. November 6, 1998.
I found the wagon type is R552V and it was constructed in Arad in Romania between 1973 and 1975, as one of 2400 units built for Poland. It was the first wagon type in Poland equipped with modern Y25 type bogies. As the classic gondola, the floor parts of the wagon were opened for dumping the load down, however this feature was rarely used in Poland so after some time the floor parts were welded together in all types of gondolas regardless of the origin. Simultaneously the letter coding for the wagon changed from Eacs to Eas, just like standard open box wagon with opened front doors.

Jak ustaliłem, ten wagon to rumuński R552V typu "gondola" - oryginalnie z otwieranymi klapami podłogowymio dla zsypania ładunku pod wagon. Wagony tego typu sprowadzono na PKP w latach 1973-1975 w liczbie 2400 sztuk, jednak po pewnym okresie wobec minimalnego wykorzystywania ruchomych klap, zostały one zaspawane i wagony przetypowano z Eacs na Eas, czyli standardowe węglaqrki z uchylnymi ścianami czołowymi. W latach 90. wycofano większość tych wagonów z eksploatacji na PKP.

De goederentak van de Poolse staatsspoorwegen PKP (Polskie Koleje Państwowe) rijdt vanuit Polen onder andere beladen kolentreinen (cokes) naar Oberhausen West. Normaliter rijden deze treinen rond het middaguur over de KBS 310, maar vanwege werkzaamheden bij Berlijn werden veel goederentreinen van/naar Polen via Falkenberg en Cottbus omgeleid. De rijtijd nam hierdoor wel met 3-4 uur toe.
Als gevolg van deze omleiding kon ook op vrijdag 20 april 2018 zo'n beladen trein uit het Poolse Dąbrowa Górnicza 'goed voor de zon' worden vastgelegd. De 193 513 van PKP Cargo passeert hier bij Eilsleben met trein 42486 naar Oberhausen West. De HVLE Maxima 490.2 reed nét iets sneller, maar ideaal was het natuurlijk niet.
In 2020 many Intercity and TLK trains out of Szczecin are routed along the Odra line due to construction works on the direct line from Szczecin to Poznan. IC82100 from Szczecin to Lublin has left Chojna a few minutes ago. EP07 1054 leads the train.
A pleasant lineside clearing north-east of Rychtal finds a family group stopping to greet Tkt48-87 on the three-coach 14.27 Namysłów-Kępno service.
These rural service branch lines Kępno-Oleśnica/Namysłów, affectionately known by enthusiasts as the 'idiot's triangle', would lose steam traction that year.

A possibility on Parade Day Saturday 2007 of an excursion from Berlin with dampflok 03 1010 failed to materialise having turning up instead worked by 'native' modern power SU45-202 seen arriving at the event.
That year celebrated also the centenary of Wolsztyn depot roundhouse attracting otherwise a fine aray of local and visiting participants over the special weekend.

Bei schönstem Frühlingswetter zieht ET22-678 von PKP Cargo einen Gaskesselzug aus Gdańsk Rafineria Richtung Inland und konnte zwischen Cieplewo und Różyny fotografiert werden.
Loc EP07-1040 is net vertrokken uit Krzyż Wielkopolski en met 6 rijtuigen onderweg als trein 81106 van Szczecin richting Poznań en eindbestemming Warschau.
