For over 70 years Canon City's water supply was carried thru this 30in. redwood pipeline. Remains of the line can still be seen on the south side of the Arkansas River. The 8 miles of pipeline was abandoned in 1974.

It wasn't just Morpeth and Rothbury that suffered in the severe storms of September 2008. The deluge and resultant flooding also washed away a large section of Scottish and Newcastle's Scandinavian pipeline causing some two million litres of Newkie Broon to flood into the North Sea. By the time the leak was plugged it wasn't only the herring that were pickled.

This pipeline was once used to carry freshwater from Buntzen Lake to the Burrard Thermal Generating Plant. A new larger underground pipe is now used.

 

In November 2013 the provincial government announced that BC Hydro will stop generating electricity at Burrard Generating Station by 2016.

Weld on new pipeline leaked when it was pressured up causing a catastrophic event.

This is one of the pigs they send through the Trans Alaska Pipeline to clean out sludge and other deposits that build up inside.

I saw this in my back yard and thought it would be a good blend between humanity and nature.
