A special gift to you all, four days of brand new Christmas pinups! Today's brand new Dietz Dolls Christmas pinup artwork is another tribute in the style of Bill Randall with ‘Special Gift'!

"Scarlet decided all the gifts were too small,

So she wrapped herself up for one and for all.

Red fur and hat with a sweet candy cane,

Best Christmas present: no returns, no exchange!"

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo art features Melissa in this 1950s-themed Coca-Cola advertisement. Originally, the Coca Cola company didn't like the fact that people were using the nickname 'Coke' to order their products in the early 1900s. They even started a campaign in 1913 to 'ask for it by its full name'. The fear was that this 'Coke' nickname would reduce the signature drink to a generic term, such as how people ask for Kleenex no matter what tissue brand you have. They eventually relented, deciding to instead try and make 'Coke' and 'Coca-Cola' interchangeable and known as the same thing. This came to head in the late 1940s and into the 1950s when the advertising reflected the interchangeable use for both terms for the drink.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Kayla in this original 'nose art' from my own 1944 GPW Jeep known as 'Picture Perfect'! Modelled after an early 1944 pinup piece by J. George Janet found in the magazine 'Fun Frolic', in this variation I replaced the radio she's holding with an accurate Pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic (circa 1939) and lowered the red outfit to just high waisted bottoms. Kayla was kind enough to model this pose for me during our recently pinup shoot in early October 2021. This pinup will make it's way onto the windshield of my 1944 Jeep in the coming days!

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Cristina in this 1940s themed pinup! While on a drive today in her Ford Model A, Cristina has some engine trouble causing her to make a pit stop. With a bag of tools in the back, she's ready to get to work and figure out the issue, no mechanic needed!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to put this one up. It's really one of my best pinup shots ever. Gotta love that sailor theme.

Taken in-studio against a white backdrop. We were trying to imitate a sunny day, so the studio setup was a simple main + hair light with a fill reflector. The post production was more elaborate.

I had Kristina sitting on a stool holding a large cardboard tube. It really only extended to about 6 inches above her left hand. I had her scoot as far forward on the stool as possible and pretend the tube was a ship's mast. Then we hiked up her dress and I used a flex-arm-clip to hold up the hem like it was blowing in the wind.

Once I had done the usual touchups, I shopped in a photo I had taken back in '07 in the Florida Keys as the background. Then I extended the cardboard tube into a full mast and added the wood grain texture. It was still missing something, so as the final touch I added in those black rope-lines.

You can see a a before and after comparison with the original here. Hold down the mouse button on the photo to show the original.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Gelsey in this Coca Cola pinup! From the 1930s into the 1940s, Coca Cola pushed the 'Coca Cola Girl' into their advertising quite heavily. Often doing some everyday task from working in a factory, serving in the military, or even playing at the beach with the gals always taking a break from their current task to have a Coke (in order to 'Refresh' themselves before continuing on with that task). This retro advertisement is part of the ongoing Coca Cola original ad recreations. The colors, fonts, language, and graphics of these have been meticulously researched and recreated to match the original style of the advertisements.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo is one of TWO for this Halloween (see the second one on Monday!). Here's Kayla in a look back to the style of the 1940s when models/starlets were photographed in the studios during major holidays. During Halloween, they would often project larger than life shadows of skeletons, creepy faces, cats, bats, witches, and more behind the model. While pumpkins are playful and fun to most, they can be also spooky during Halloween!

Classic pinup girl on a 1968 Mustang

Portrait from pinup photo shoot, 6/30/13

model: Brittany Jean

This week's airbrushed style pinup photo art features Ashley and the North American P-51D Mustang. The first P-51 Mustang prototype rolled off the assembly line only 102 days from initial design to actually ready to fly! The Army Air Force didn't have much interest in it after the first tests as the performance wasn't very impressive with the original Allison V-1710 engine that limited high altitude performance. It wasn't until the RAF, who saw the Mustang's potential, fitted it with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine that the Mustang would go on to make aviation history. Serving in both the European Theater and Pacific Theater of World War 2, the P-51 was a truly versatile aircraft providing long range escort of bombers, attacking of ground targets, dogfighting the Luftwaffe, and more. Armed with six .50 Cal machine guns and able to carry up to 2,000 pounds of bombs and rockets, the P-51 Mustang served in the US Military through the Korean War. This 32 foot long 37 foot wide fighter has become an iconic symbol of airpower during World War 2 and is one of the most well known aircraft of all time.
