Captured this shot of handpicked apples from the orchard at Gordon's Farm in Mount Vernon, Washington. This was part of Wyatt's field trip to the pumpkin match.
I am working on getting caught up with everyone's streams; I am very behind.

So yeah most of us are staying at home right now. But a lot of us still have to work, who knew working from home would be so damn boring.

I believe that snow makes any scene more magical. The view from the 12th Street bridge, or also known as the Dr Rizal Bridge, is a fantastic spot to capture a great view of the downtown Seattle skyline. I like all of the energy one witnesses from this location. Throw some snow into the mix, and I believe it is a magical scene. Of course one who lives in Seattle knows that just a trace amount of snow can throw our commute into a nightmare!
This snowfall was the light dusting and precursor to our bigger snowstorm to follow the next day! This was then followed by a rare ice storm. Yes, I was then trapped at home as roads were essentially impassable for about a day! This particular night I bumped into fellow Flickr friends Lisa www.flickr.com/photos/thebluehour89/ and Aaron www.flickr.com/photos/sicalufakiss/ It is always great to go out and shoot around the city, but even better when you bump into some good local Flickr friends and photographers!
This is a combination of three exposures (-2,0,+2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I cleaned up some dust spots from my sensor and cropped in Photoshop. I adjusted the brightness a bit in Lightroom as well as sharpened, removed some noise and added a vignette.
Thank you for adding me as a contact. I have been overwhelmed with all of the new contact emails from the past few days. So thank you and please do not be offended if I have not added you back. I have developed close friendships within the Flickr community and it can be hard to keep up with everyone. Rest assured that I will attempt to look at your photostreams and add you as a contact if your photostream resonates with me.
Thank you for your views, comments and faves! I appreciate them.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.
I spent the July 4th weekend moving.
Listning to the new Vacationer recorded while processing this shot.
Glimpse - by Vacationer
Got a glimpse.
Ironed out the grooves that comes with
A slight-eyed wince
The sight always revives the senses.
Lift up high again,
Dreaming on the roof of my head.
It's not who, it's when.
The someone who my thoughts went off with, often.
It's all in my view.
Lonely, have trouble hanging on.
Seeing not close again
is all
needed ever so often.
Here it comes, it's comin' again.
This little glimpse is all you got.
When it's going, it's going away.
This little glimpse is all you got.
Here it comes, it's comin' in waves.
This little glimpse is all you got.
And it's gone, and it's gone away.
This little glimpse is all you got to know.
Savoring the warmth that comes with
Looking out ahead.
Steady on your side,
The last glimpse.
Left up high again.
Reach you in the clouds of my hair.
It's not who, it's when.
I'm holding on to the room I've held in
Moments.
That light I know,
Where'd it go?
Leaving ever so often.
This little glimpse is all you got...
This little glimpse is all you got...to know.

Today Kristy, Charity, and I went to see the movie "Lucy" then went out to a local farm here in Skagit County called Snow Goose Produce Market. Kristy was craving bubble gum ice cream for a while and they had just what she needed.
The bokeh in this shot reminds me of a watercolor painting.
Thank you for all comments and favorites.

I know, I know, another shot of the Alki Point Lighthouse! When ever I go to Alki Beach located in West Seattle, I am pulled to the lighthouse! I can miss all of the other possible comps in the area because the magnetic pull coming from the lighthouse is too strong for me to overcome!
I texted a couple of Flickr friends that night and my Flickr friend Jason Hoover came out to meet me! He is the reason I started with HDR photography and it was great to finally catch up with what he has been up to! It has been a lot too! Here is a link to his fantastic photostream, which I think represents some of the best artistic HDR look in the world! www.flickr.com/photos/surrealize/
As you all know, this can be a tough lighthouse to shoot with the eyesore of a fence and prime location right in the middle of million dollar properties, I say properties, because the houses don't all look like a million dollars! I did take a shot from the other side and will post that at another time as the color was good earlier from there! This particular composition is not unique, as Jason was the inspiration for it! Here is his shot from a couple of years ago: www.flickr.com/photos/surrealize/3304226438/
This is a combination of three exposures (-2,0,+2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I shot this handheld with my wide angel lens wide open and at a higher ISO than I normally use. I have a special tripod that attaches to the fence that I have used before, but I figured, just try and shoot it handheld. I don't need a deep DOF here! I did perspective crop the image to straighten the lighthouse, due to the distortion of the lens. I ran through Topaz Adjust to get back details and removed the noise. Final adjustments in Lightroom for highlights and colors, as well as an added vignette.
For those of you waiting for my time lapse video of the Lenticular clouds illuminated by moon light over Mt Rainier, I will post that in a couple of days. So thank you for your patience! Thank you also for your comments, views and faves! I appreciate them! I am finally getting back to a regular presence here on Flickr, so I am perusing more f my friends photostreams! Thank you again for your patience and support!

A Rare whitebow or fog bow in a field just outside Penryn, Cornwall
Stunning to look at and damn difficult to capture
This 15 second exposure made sure i had enough light coming in through my 10 stop whilst ensuring the fog which was pretty thick was not blowing the highlights
As with all my images i am happy to talk about licensing or printed copies
I am not so happy to find them pinned to pintrest for the world to steal.
Please respect my wishes on this

Well I guess I can't get enough of our recent snow around here! I have decided to take all of you to my home town of Issaquah, Washington. This is the beautifully restored train depot located just off of Front Street in downtown Issaquah. Here is a fall shot from a couple of years ago: www.flickr.com/photos/fresnatic/4038448443/
As in the fall scene, I chose to represent a more painterly look. This particular scene just screams "Vintage!" So that is what I did! Now that I have two seasons represented, I just might have to finish this off with a Spring and Summer shot to complete the set. A very easy thing to do as this is just down the hill from where I live!
This is a combination of three exposures (-2,0,+2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I used the perspective crop to remove some of the distortion caused by my wide angle. I also removed some pesky telephone wires and yellow jacket traps! Did a little "Dodge and Burn." Final adjustment to pull back the color, especially toned down the red in the depot and added a slight vignette in Lightroom.
A sincere thanks to everyone who has visited my photostream lately. Thank you for your support, views, comments and faves. I really appreciate them. I also apologize if I have not yet visited your stream. I have been extremely busy at work and have had little Flickr time this past week!

The weather has been very warm here in Washington the last few weeks. Today, Charity helped me capture this shot of the lavender at my brother's house by spraying the hose. She helped me with the photo while at the sometime cooling her and Wyatt off.
Processed this shot listening to ODESZA's "Summer's Gone" album, which is awesome.

My first attempt at the Northern Lights and looking for advice from my flickr friends. I know of the following changes for future: take the ISO off Auto, change the Noise Reduction Setting on Camera. What else?
Hope you all had a great summer! Thanks for your input! Amazing opportunity - lots of colour and activity for short periods of time, the "lights" were spectacular!

My goal today was to run a few miles on the local high school track, but I quickly became preoccupied with the trees in the area.
Most of the autumn leaves have fallen off the trees here in Washington. The abondance of fall colors is slowly starting to fade away.

This is another shot I captured yesterday. I am obsessed the brown tones and the crinkled leaves which is the opposite of the vibrant colors I have previously posted.
The title comes from a song by Active Child, "Handing On".
I just can't keep hanging on
To you and me
I just don't what is wrong
With you and me

This is the last bird I saw on Thursday morning as my outing came to an abrupt ending.
I had been trying to catch one of the other warblers (not yet ID'd) and becoming frustrated with the weight of the lens and camera.
All of a sudden I heard the snap of a dry branch and thought 'oh someone else on the trail this morning'.
I looked about thirty feet to my left and saw a black furry rump!
My heart skipped a beat, the adrenaline started to course through my veins, and I started to consider my options...
1) toss my bag of nuts and dried fruit,
2) cannot back up on the trail, too many tree stumps and uneven ground, I will be on the ground in 10 seconds or less,
3) use the camera and monopod for anything other than the intended purpose (I was already complaining about the weight!),
4) wait and see which direction little bear will go...
Little bear (adult) went in the opposite direction!
This is a common experience for me as our little neighbourhood is in the middle of bear country and I see them every summer.
People often ask if I worry about a bear encounter and I always say no. I love bears and have a healthy respect for them. I am not going to bother them and for fifteen years they have not bothered with me or my dogs. I believe they have no interest or desire to interact with humans. They are doing what bears do this time of year - preparing for winter and feeding on the wild berries and fruit in the area.
This is the first time I did not have Cammy (my dog) on the trail with me.
Remember: Do not feed the bears, a fed bear is a dead bear!
