In my journeys I came across this sweet guy that reminded me to look at life through my pink glasses, that I had stashed in a pocket and forgotten almost completely about...he said " pink makes it all better and gives you back hope in life, all is softer and nicer, it opens your eyes to what is there but you have forgotten to see... "...I had to agree with him. After I wore my glasses, I laid down on the grass and just ended my day humming some old forgotten happy songs of my childhood... and just started noticing the bright stars above me, gentle bright fireflies blending in the evening sky.
Pink paw pads, green eyes - and at some spots his brown fur has been turned into orange by the sun...

Some of his paw pads are black, but these four are all pink - and very cute.

Even a "common" brown-tabby coat can be colourful and his green eyes and pink paw beans adds to it. Bastian is far from common, but quite special...

Trying out new compositions for the 52 week project. Interestingly, among the hundreds of photos I've taken of Odie, there wasn't one that focused on his paws. Stupid, isn't it? So, this became my challenge for the second week of the project. I love his pink paw pads - there are spots of black, but they are mostly pink.
I still don't have my Pentax - they told me I should get it back in 2 to 4 weeks, so I'm waiting. :-(
And an apology to all my contacts for neglecting them for so long. I will try to visit your photostreams as soon as possible.

Ancestor to most species of geese, Greylag Goose is also the most common and widespread European goose. In Europe there are two subspecies of greylag goose: Western (A.a. anser) and Eastern (A.a. rubrirostris). The size of a domestic goose, but slightly plumper. It is recognizable by the gray-brown color of its feathers, its pink paws and by an orange beak (European subspecies) or pink (Eastern subspecies). In flight, the anterior edge of the wings, of a very light gray, strongly contrasts with the rest of the plumage. It has a heavy pace in flight as on land.
We had our home inspection yesterday. Of course Julian had to come along to ensure poodle readiness. The neighbors and their two pups came over while we there to meet us and Julian. You've got to like that!
The gentleman doing the inspections for us was great with us, and Julian. We were looking at heat transferance when of course I thought of 52 weeks for Jules!
The home's insulation and Julian both passed with flying colors!
I don't know about you guys, but that massive amount of red around his head sure is an indicator to me that there is a whole lot of brain mass in process.
The two little pink paw prints behind him were cool to see. We tracked his path across the floor.
Technically of course I did not take this photo. But I did give pointers on how to take a pet portrait. What a good sport he was.

Hi foster-mommy's Flickr friends, my name is Prinzessin, which is German for Princess. I'm the one in front with the white scarf and shoes. My name is a bit misleading because despite my doll's face, pink paws and lips, I am a wild thing! I chase all of my siblings around the garden and climb the tree higher than anyone, well, except for my Mom. I am closest to my brother Prinz, but when it comes to romping about, any of my siblings will do. Here I am sleeping with my sister Magierin (Enchantress) who is cuddled up against me.
I've admired Gumbo's gorgeously pink paw pads in the past, but I hadn't stopped to think about what happens to the color when he stands up. The pressure on his pads forces the blood out of the area turning them from pink to white. Makes sense. That means pink paw pads are blanchable. Go figure.

Well, tiss the weekend and I'm back from Colchester, Christmas is over, did it ever start???
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend...:O))
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - A white tiger (Panthera tigris) is a tiger with a genetic condition that nearly eliminates pigment in the normally orange fur, although they still have dark stripes. (Another genetic condition also makes the stripes of the tiger very pale; white tigers of this type are called snow-white or "pure white".) This occurs when a tiger inherits two copies of the recessive gene for the paler coloration: pink nose, pink paw pads, grey-mottled skin, ice-blue eyes, and white to cream-coloured fur with black, grey, or chocolate-coloured stripes. Mr. H.E. Scott of the Indian police gave this description of a captive white tiger's eyes: "The colourings of the eyes are very distinct. There is no well defined division between the yellow of the comex and the blue of the iris. The eyes in some lights are practically colourless merely showing the black pupil on a light yellow background."
White tigers do not constitute a separate subspecies of their own and can breed with orange ones, although all of the resulting offspring will be heterozygous for the recessive white gene, and their fur will be orange. The only exception would be if the orange parent was itself already a heterozygous tiger, which would give each cub a 50% chance of being either double-recessive white or heterozygous orange. If two heterozygous tigers, or heterozygotes, breed on average 25% of their offspring will be white, 50% will be heterozygous orange (white gene carriers) and 25% will be homozygous orange, with no white genes. In the 1970s a pair of heterozygous orange tigers named Sashi and Ravi produced 13 cubs in Alipore Zoo, of which 3 were white. If two white tigers breed, 100% of their cubs will be homozygous white tigers. A tiger which is homozygous for the white gene may also be heterozygous for many different genes. Inbreeding promotes homozygosity and has been used as a strategy to produce white tigers. Inbreeding is detrimental when deleterious genes are present, otherwise it is harmless. The white gene may be considered deleterious or categorized as a genetic defect.
Compared to orange tigers without the white gene, white tigers tend to be larger both at birth and at full adult size. This may have given them an advantage in the wild despite their unusual coloration. Heterozygous orange tigers also tend to be larger than other orange tigers. Kailash Sankhala, the director of the New Delhi Zoo in the 1960s, said "One of the functions of the white gene may have been to keep a size gene in the population, in case it's ever needed."
Dark-striped white individuals are well-documented in the Bengal Tiger subspecies, also known as the royal Bengal tiger or Indian tiger, (Panthera tigris tigris or P. t. bengalensis), may also have occurred in captive Siberian Tigers (Panthera tigris altaica), and may have been reported historically in several other subspecies. White pelage is most closely associated with the Bengal, or Indian subspecies. Currently, several hundred white tigers are in captivity worldwide with about 100 of them in India, and their numbers are on the increase. The modern population includes both pure Bengals and hybrid Bengal–Siberians, but it is unclear whether the recessive gene for white came only from Bengals, or from any of the Siberian ancestors as well.
The unusual coloration of white tigers has made them popular in zoos and entertainment that showcases exotic animals. The magicians Siegfried & Roy are famous for having bred and trained white tigers for their performances, referring to them as "royal white tigers" perhaps from the white tiger's association with the Maharaja of Rewa.
