another kind of forest, ordered stillness amongst the pines

Trees are poems that nature writes in the sky.

Close to the sandy beach of Formby, lies the Pinewoods with sandy floors It is a rare stronghold for the red squirrel. Elusive animals too. These woods have a real magical feel to them.

A panorama of 4 shots from the suburban forest that I like a lot. Wonderful kind of summer has come. Warm days, blue skies, flowers and trees in bloom.

Thank you for all the comments and favs, my dear friends.

I liked the uniformity and depth of the pines in this one. The snow subdued the rich colours of the canopy and forest floor The tree trunks stood out to become the main focal point.

I solved a personal mystery of: "What's does the CN look like between Rainy River and Fort Frances?" I have plenty of visits to the CN mainline in Minnesota, but Ontario was a huge unknown. I spent the afternoon and evening north of the border to see what I could find and satisfy the looming curiosity of the CN Fort Frances Subdivision.

A westbound empty potash train crosses the Pinewood River at its namesake community of Pinewood. I had no idea there was a mint green CN bridge here, so I knew I had to get a photo here, fingers crossed! I really enjoyed grabbing photos over in Ontario.

How I love wandering under those magnificent trees and smell their so particular scent!

We decided to get out and about on Saturday and headed to Lake Whales, FL to Bok Tower Gardens. On the grounds of the garden is the Mediterranean style home of C. Austin Buck part of the old Steel Dynasty. Built in 1932 by architect Charles Wait. Buck had the idea of the gardens and Frederick Olmstead designed them. In the 1970's Nellie Lee Holt Bok purchased the home and renamed it El Retiro.
