I have been to this pine forest numerous times to try and get the light streaming through the tree tops onto the forest floor. There needs to be a bit of fog or smoke to highlight the rays. I'm sure there will be plenty of smoke in the dry season months.

In the meantime this will have to do with a bit of help in pp to highlight the existing rays and shadows.

This brown-headed nuthatch was remarkably curious about me when I was walking about Stump Sound Park in Sneads Ferry, NC. I'm used to these birds being remarkably skittish, so it was a surprise (a pleasant one) when this bird flew to within 3' of me and checked me out.

Very busy teaching, going to a workshop in Chicago, and finishing up two weddings -- I'll probably be behind for a while but will do my best to catch up later. Hope everyone has a great week!
