Starting a new 26 image project ... Flora A-Z.
I won't be going in A-Z order, and this might take a while.
I did something similar in 2019 A-Z.
Wiki is puzzled over why I put a pine cone there with her. I want to show how big the pine cones are from the tree in previous photo.
What says Christmas more than glitter? It's usually all over the house for a month or two ....
When we were kids we used to collect cones and even cones on pine branches .. paint them or glue and glitter them... painstakingly ... with tiny brushes, some not so great glue, and glitter that came in who-knows-what for packaging. It took us ages.... and, then, we sold them to the neighbours for 25 cents. Our big wagon was empty by the time we got halfway down the block.
We had to hike back up the hill to find more cones....
It took me all of about 5 minutes to do this batch of 3 ... with an old cheap fuzzy brush... a bit of white glue which was getting kind of dry so I watered it down ... and a container of glitter with little holes for shaking on the stuff.... easy peasy.
I worked on a chunk of brown paper bag opened out..so that I can save the excess and put it back into the shaker for another time. It hardly used any of the glitter really.... I'll have enough to last a lifetime in a $7.00 container.
i found these pinecones between two evergreens, sheltered from wind and snow. as i lay on the ground, i witnessed a haven, a refuge. and this made me thankful for the safe places in my life. i take refuge (gratefully) in nature, connection, love, and home. i find refuge in loved ones; in meaningful relationships. my most important refuge, though, is the one i find in myself.

Not sure why, but these pinecones at the arboretum always seem to look so much prettier than the ones in our yard.
Maybe it's because the trees going next to the lake have a better water source? Or, maybe it's because I don't have to pick these up when they fall? LOL!

My son, Kyle, brought this pinecone home a few days ago. It looked interesting so of course I hijacked it so I could take some pics of it.
It looks way cool when you View On Black
