A view of a portion of the small section of Torrey Pines State Reserve with eroded walls that form "badlands".
I'm taking an Arts and Technologies class this semester; it's called "Storyboarding and Preproduction." It's outside my major, but I thought I'd try it, regardless.
It's enjoyable, but I now know that I couldn't be an ATEC major.
Anyway, throughout the whole semester, we are to produce a mini-story with accompanying storyboard and characters and everything.
I decided to go with Pine and Deciduous. This is their character sheet. I have such a terrible feeling that everyone else in that class will hate me for having such simplistic characters...
Pine and Deciduous are two characters I've had for a while; they're two trees who are friends. They become outwardly sentient after the apocalypse destroys any and all fauna, leaving only the flora to entertain themselves. It would make a really silly webcomic, methinks.
There are some people here-abouts who don't believe that the yellow dust that settles on our cars, driveways - any flat surface - is pine pollen. They suggest it might be wattle. This is just one small plantation - there are thousands of hectares of these trees in this district and the dust/mist you see in this photo really is yellow. Just as well pine pollen is low allergenic.
The Patriarch Grove contains the largest Bristlecone, the "Patriarch" (1500 years old) and the oldest, the "Methuselah" (4700+ years old) - the Methuselah is unmarked in order to protect it

@dailyshoot Make a photograph with an emphasis on the sky today. #ds652
Today was sunny and cold. So I ventured outside to see what I could find in rust. I was surprised to find more things than I expected. I don’t mind the cold when the sun shines, because the sun makes it feel warmer. I would like winter, if every day could be like this. Hopefully we’ll have more sunny days so that I can get pictures of the other rust things I found.

Close-up of new pine needles from one of our Ponderosa Pine trees. (Mom and Dad gave us a bunch of baby Ponderosa Pines about thirteen or fourteen years ago and four or five survived and are now between 15 to 25 feet tall.)
Pine cone shot with a Lume Cube 2.0 with barn door attachment inside of a lightbox with black background.
Old growth Ponderosa Pine forest in southwestern Colorado. Characterized by the orange tint to the bark, these old growth trees are vital components of the western forest ecosystem, but sadly few remain today.
Backlit pine trees near Wild Goose Island Overlook at Glacier National Park, Montana. While throngs of photography workshop participants crowded around the popular photo viewpoint, I decided to wander along the backlit forest and concentrate on the forms of the pine branches.
Cheers!

A while back i started doing chapter/year title pages to start each year's collection. Normally i would start with this year's but for reasons i am not allowed to disclose i cannot at this time. So here's a sketch of a pine Ent. If you don't know what an Ent is..hah! Like anyone here on Flickr doesn't know what an Ent is!
