Macro Monday's and the theme of "Pins".

A straightforward photo this week. I decided to focus on the pins of a Compact Flash card reader, It was slightly easier than using my Nikon D200 as a subject where the pins are quite recessed inside the camera. The card reader also has a blue light that illuminates when it is plugged in.

Compact flash cards are the reason I mainly use a lead to connect the camera too my laptop. I had heard stories when I first got my Nikon D70 of the possibility of pins getting bent in the CF card port so to this day I am still in the habit of using a lead.

Macro Mondays Theme: #pins

My small flask that holds ashes, what ashes, not sure, but since it is dust to dust and ashes to ashes, when things seem out of place or crazier than normal I touch the flask or at times sprinkle some to get the perspective of it really isn't that bad. Always visible in the corner of the pin board, just an ever reminder to make the most of this day.

hey look, it's a new photo!

it's been a minute, hasn't it?

The Helsingør Pigegarde - Elsinore Girls Marching Band (Denmark) performed at the Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day and gave a special performance for MonteCedro the next day. Less than a week later, Altadena was devastated by the Eaton Fire. I am leaving a few links to their performances and their pictures here at MC are in my portfolio. They gave is these cute pins to remember them.

Here's one of those exotics native to Africa but established in SoCal. Not my best image, but it's this month's. Doesn't really show off how LONG that tail really is. It's actually a very small bird, much smaller than a House Sparrow. This one still wears the flashy breeding colors and sports the long tail. When they're in top form, the male does an air dance in front of a perched female that is just delightful. BTW, location San Dimas not San Jose CA.

Saturday Self Challenge

Your challenge this week is Minimalism in Still life.

Be as creative as you want to be as long as the still life is minimalist in nature.

I’m not a fan of still life photography, I just can’t seem to muster any enthusiasm for the subject, minimalism in still life had me groaning even more, but a challenge is just that so here is my effort. I could have gone more minimal with just one pin, but in the end I opted for the two different colours. I took a few shots without the flash, but using the flash gave me the shadows which gave the image a little more depth and interest, well that is if two pins can be in the slightest bit interesting !!

Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

I lined up a load of drawing pins for this weeks Macro Mondays 'Dutch Angle' theme. I tried quite a few variations but liked this one best.

This male pin-tailed whydah was quite a special sight when visiting Huntington Beach library park this summer. Usually found in Africa he is most probably an escape bird from a park. But as there were also females around, they might have establish a population already. Huntington Beach, CA

This weeks theme for Macro Mondays is Stripes.

I didn't have any pinstripes, so I had to settle for pinned stripes instead.
