Posted for interest and a record, not for photogenic quality, ha. This was one of the fungi I photographed when a group of us went to West Bragg Creek on 25 August 2012, to search for mushroom species. I got an e-mail last night, asking if any of us had photographed this particular fungus, as it turns out that it was quite interesting. "This mushroom, looking like it is covered with algae, is a brother of the Lobster mushroom, thus a parasite; this one is Hypomyces luteovirens, Green Mushroom Pimple". Not sure I would have photographed it if I had found it somewhere on my own, and I wouldn't have pulled it : ) As it was, I reluctantly photographed it, as it really didn't look photogenic to me at all. Any confirmation or correction of ID would be greatly appreciated - thanks! If you look at this image in original size, you can see all the tiny green "pimples", if you are in the mood for looking at green pimples, ha.
"Fruit body a white then olive-green to dark green mold which produces dark green perithecia that project as small pimples. The mold covers the gills and stalk of lactarius and russula mushrooms. Habitat in woods on various species of russula and lactarius mushrooms. Common in wet weather wherever the host species are found, throughout many parts of North America."

"This species of Hypomyces is a parasite on various species of Russula. It is easily recognized by its yellow-green color. It seems less avid about its parasitism than some species of Hypomyces, and tends to cover only the upper stem and gills of the host mushroom, leaving it fairly recognizable. Parasitic on various species of Russula, which have diverse habitats; widely distributed in North America. Fruit Body is a powdery, mold-like covering over the gills and stem of the host; yellow to yellowish green." From MushroomExpert.com., which is an excellent website.

Acne is the most common skin problem happens to almost everyone, and usually begins with skin congestion or commonly known as comedones. When comedones become infected, it can break out and cause acne, open pores and eventually scars.
Comedones or blackheads and whiteheads are the first lesion of acne in non-inflammatory form. Acne happens when the blockage inside pores becomes anaerobic; and hence promotes the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (bacteria P.acnes) within. This infection results the skin becomes inflamed, heat, swollen, pain and red.

Ok, so seeing as it's right on my face and in FULL view of anyone looking at me... it might not actually be a secert, but I don't go around telling people... it's been a bad habit since I was little.... I think the itchiness of healing drives me to it, without thinking of the resulting red, scaby spot. Whatever.
I am just going to come out and say it.....I like popping pimples, zits, black heads, white heads, you name it I like to pick at it! Disgusting I know, but I have a feeling I am not alone. I am just one of the few that will admit it and come out of the closet. I think this will be a first in a series of skin related jewelry. I have been thinking about this for a while and this ring project gave me a place to start. I think the picking stems from my nervous habits and anxiety. I am better at trying not to destroy my skin, but I still have a long road to recovery.......to be continued.

I have heard that aloe is good for the skin. It must be true! Aloe managed to hide my pimple. It's a bit better. It no longer has its own gravitational pull, but it still big enough to have its own zip code.
I made an effort to try to do something photoshop-y. I put a '60's filter on this picture. It isn't like I learned to photoshop, but it is at least one more thing I learned to do.
I thought it was fitting as my first thought was it looked like some creepy plant was attacking me like you'd see in a '60's B science fiction movie.
I dedicate this photo to liltbraty2009. She wrote on another photo: "If you learned PS your pics would be off the charts (not that they aren't already) because you are so creative:-)"
It was because of her I tried something new. Check out her stream!

For centuries, amethysts have been thought to be an excellent remedial for many ailments. Hundreds of years ago, the amethyst was moistened with saliva and rubbed on the face to banish pimples and rough skin. Today it is used in spells designed to magnify beauty. In traditional Chinese medicine, amethyst is prescribed for stomach pains and bad dreams. It may also be used for the healing of illnesses of the lungs. It is believed to help detoxify the body and can be most useful in cleansing the pectoral region. Amethysts are valuable in treating the central nervous system as well as the brain. Not only will they alleviate a headache, but they will also help clear oneâs thinking process, allowing one to process information more efficiently. It is believed to loosen blocks in the mind where mental functioning has become confused and undirected, and frees the way to clearer thinking. They are also believed to help people who suffer from a faulty memory.
Amethysts are recommended to those who deal with stress a lot, such as people with an excessive work ethic who are unable to enjoy relaxation. This quality is also believed useful when treating insomnia too. Amethysts also help those who are prone to depression and an overall melancholy feeling. Many also believe that amethysts are useful for those working to transcend chemical dependence. The stones may work as talismans to provide inner strength when battling dependency. Amethyst is believed to target the pituitary gland, which directs the endocrine system, the pineal gland, where altered states of consciousness and psychic skills are thought to be triggered, and the entire cerebral cortex in the brain. It is therefore felt to be a tonic for headaches, mental illness, anxiety, concussions, and depression.
Amethysts are also used for natural healing. It is a stone steeped in ancient magic and is as popular today as it was two thousand years ago. If placed beneath a pillow or worn to bed, it supposedly drives off insomnia and nightmares. It also produces a peaceful sleep with pleasant, healing, and often prophetic dreams. However it will also ensure that its wearer doesnât oversleep. It is a spiritual stone, with no negative side effects or associations with violence, anger or passion. It is a stone of peace. It calms fears, raises hopes, lifts the spirits, and promotes thoughts of the spiritual reality behind our lives. It wards off guilt and self deception, curbs overindulgence, and bestows good judgment. It calms emotional storms and in situations of potential danger, it will come to your aid. It also lends courage and is a powerful amulet for travelers. Worn, it protects against thieves, harm, sickness, and danger.
Amethyst is cleansing, both physically and psychologically. It promotes internal balance and harmony and brings stability to the individual. Amethysts are capable of raising ones spirits, promoting self assurance and confidence. They brighten the outlook on life and enhance the sense of humor. The virtues of amethyst include beauty, calm, fulfillment, humility, a loving demeanor, perfection, piety, sincerity, spiritual balance, tranquility and wisdom. Amethyst is often worn during contemplation or placed on simple meditation altars. It is worn during psychic acts and since it is a stone of wisdom, it allows the information received through the psychic mind to be appropriately utilized. The stone also helps sharpen the conscious mind and enhances the mental powers. It is used to improve memory and keeps thoughts in line with life goals. It is a stone of pure, true, emotional love. It is often exchanged between two lovers to strengthen their commitment. It is also one of the few stones specifically prescribed for men to use for attracting women. It supposedly draws âgood womenâ to love him. The stone is also used by those involved in lawsuits to ensure that right is done. It has been long thought to bring success to businesses.
When we have pimples, on the face or on the body, for no apparent reason and quite recurrent, we know that acne has knocked on our door. Whether we are young, adult, male or female, we have all experienced these famous periods of âskin buddingâ that we would like to forget⌠yet we are not equal before acne pimples! Indeed, acne is as diverse as the victims on whom it casts its hand. Some will have only a few small nodules, while others will endure the entire acne panoply. In fact, there are several types of acne, ranging from minor to severe.
Minor Acne and Severe Acne
The French Society of Dermatology defines acne as â the disease to which the dermatologist is most frequently confronted. Acne affects about 80% of adolescents (15% of whom have severe acne) and almost 25% of adults, especially women. It is a so-called auto-inflammatory disease: it combines changes in the normal functioning of the skin and infection with a bacterium, Propionibacterium Acnes.
Types of Acne
Acne is classified into 3 types, in order to better care for them:
⢠Minor acne
⢠Average acne
⢠Severe acne
These categories depend on several factors. For example, did you know that you can get acne at any time in your life? Of course, adolescence is often the focus of this skin disease, but acne is no longer only juvenile, nowadays. You cannot have pimples until 20 years, and overnight make an acne rash. Your child may have âyouthâ acne and never have it again in his life. A pregnant woman may see acne spots appear during her pregnancy, and continue to have acne after. In short, the transition to adulthood is not necessarily a land of post-adolescent asylum.
Similarly, the severity of acne varies depending on its location: standard acne will only touch the face, while severe acne can extend to the back, chest, scalp, and even arms. It is then referred to as severe bodily acne.
Finally, the severity of acne obviously depends on its intensity: there is a big difference between having a few pimples here and there and having an area covered with lesions. The type of lesion also comes into account: are the pimples, cysts, blackheads, pustules, nodules, etcâŚ
The Influence of The Psychological Factor in The Intensity of Acne
Depending on the type of acne, the impact on everyday life is not going to be the same either. The vicious side of acne is there: it reaches areas of our body that often define us and are difficult to mask (such as the face). It is easy to understand that it is not easy for a 30-year-old adult to cope with his acne attacks by going to the office every morning. The same applies to a young mother. We will not mention the case of adolescents, who are in a part of their lives where they are psychologically unstable because they are building a personality, and that acne can be a great factor of shyness, loss of confidence and self-confidence.
Thus, depending on how acne is accepted and experienced, the severity will vary. Physically minor acne can become severe if the person who is the victim experiences it very badly.
The CAUSES of Severe Acne
Just like minor acne, severe acne usually has the same factors of appearance, except that the skin will react to the extreme.
Genetics: unfortunately, genetic inheritance plays a lot. If some members of your family have or have had severe acne, you may also have severe acne.
Hormonal Instability: hormones greatly influence the production of sebum, responsible for the appearance of acne pimples. That is why pregnancy and adolescence are especially prone to acne. This is also why taking the pill is related to acne: some are even recommended to deal with acne problems by stabilizing the hormonal environment.
Diet: too fatty diet greatly promotes the appearance of acne pimples, especially as already weakened skin.
Anxiety: the famous expression âit gives me pimplesâ does not exist for nothing! Indeed, it would seem that stress stimulates the production of sebum, and therefore promotes acne.
Severe Acne and Medical Follow-Up
In any case, an acne diagnosed as severe must be accompanied medically, especially by a dermatologist, who will be best able to choose a treatment suitable for each type of skin, lesion, and of course patient. Be that as it may, keep your spirits up and remember that each acne has a treatment and a way to adapt to it to make it disappear. Good hygiene of life, including strict dietary and sanitary habits, helps to minimize the proliferation of pimples.

When Nick Vucijic was thirteen, a tomatoe red pimple grew on his nose that made him feel like rudolph red nose australian. He fretted about it and showed the red spot to his mum. And guess what his mum told him, "don't scratch it!" Nick smirk, "I dont have arms mum." She forgot about his condition that time, well, he was not treated differently from the other kids, rather they would often tell him to play along because he's normal. "You just loss some bits and pieces son" they told him. His lackness were well compensated with tender love and care. Something hit me on this, if Nick who's born with no arms and legs survives this world and making a meaningful life at this time then why cant I?
Deuteronomy 16:17 KJV
Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessings of the Lord your God which He has given you.
So, Im giving my very best in this lifetime. Because God had made me extra special and I just cannot thank Him enough. A whole of experiences and surprises this "thing" has brought me from random people I encounter at the rehab center to the smallest things like the butterflies and the mountain and ocean. My condition will not be a hindrance in creating and appreciating the what we call, life. So thank you Lord God. :)
