Stella Artois is a pilsner beer that traces its heritage to 1366 with the founding of the Den Hoorn brewery in Leuven, Belgium. The beer takes its name from a beer launched by the brewery in 1926 that was called Stella—meaning “star” in Latin—and from the name of head brewmaster Sébastien Artois, who purchased the brewery in 1717.
Stella Artois is still brewed in Leuven, among other locations including the UK, and following various acquisitions and mergers, is today part of the Anheuser-Busch InBev brewery company (sigh). The beer lost its “import” status in the United States last year, when Anheuser-Busch began transitioning to U.S. brewing for the North American marketplace.
The glass you see here was photographed with my Helios 85mm f1.5 lens. I used a crumpled sheet of Mylar illuminated with red and white lights to create the background bokeh.

(No advertising intended: The Hofbräu AG Bamberg/Erlangen was closed down in 1977; I found this beautiful 60's beer glass a while ago in a charity bazaar.)

Auburn Alehouse's most award winning beer, Gold Country Pilsner is brewed as a traditional American-style Pilsner - a popular beer enjoyed by early settlers in California. This Pilsner is pale in color, has brilliant clarity and a soft white head. The subtle up front biscuit flavor balances well with the delicate hops that contribute to this beer's dry, snappy finish.

Deep coppery gold body and good foam, soft chewy caramel on the nose. Flavour is light and snappy hops with caramel hints, good carbonation and dry finish. Doesn't seem like a pilsner but is nice enough. From Bomber Brewing in Eastvan
