Robots piloting bigger robots on a strange alien planet, that's the sauce!
So I started trying to build a more traditional Zoid dino but wasn't feeling it for some reason so it evolved/devolved into a more chunky toy thing. More along the lines of Starriors and Micronauts etc, real scruffy-looking. I got some more of those leg parts in blue and yellow as I want to so a couple version in different colourways, they should look cool together.

After a night nearby, the morning brought sun and a lushness to the sage. I was driving out when I took this. Looking into my rearview, I saw this view. I stopped the car, set up a couple of shots.
I'm pretty surprised at how the Ektachrome handled the greens here. It was green with the light, but nothing like this.

Piloting on the River Yare, Norfolk. Once a fishing port where you could almost walk across the river on herring boats, the main traffic now is tankers and service boats for the rigs in the North Sea.
Super Wetter am Ratzeburger See.
Autogyro-pilot
Great weather at Ratzeburg Lake. Tradesmen with their small stands were there. In the middle of the market was a pilot from the "Flying School of the North" with his training autogyro. There were enough onlookers and this little boy took a seat in the pilot's seat.

The extreme large size of this cutthroat trout is unique to the native Lahontan's of Pyramid Lake (a.k.a. Pilot Peak Strain). As residents of ancient Lake Lahontan, these cutthroat evolved into predators highly trained on capturing the native forage fish. The tui chub was likely the most abundant of these forage fish on Lake Lahontan, and is today the most abundant fish in Pyramid Lake.

A spontaneous portrait of one of the "D-Day Doll" pilots in the captain seat at the Daks Over Prestwick public display at Prestwick International Airport, Scotland.
"D-Day Doll", a Douglas C-53D that went into service in 1943, took part as a tow plane for gliders on D-Day, flew in supplies to Normandy afterwards, flew in paratroopers for Operation Market Garden, dropped supplies over Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge and played a massive part during the post-war Berlin Airlift. A true workhorse of the skies and is, to this day, a "beautifully smooth flyer". This 'Dakota' was on a refuelling stop in Prestwick with several other DC-3 and C-47 aircraft making up the American contingent of the D-Day Squadron. They are to fly in massive formation with many others from around the world to drop paratroopers over Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day this coming week.
The fuselage was simply a queue of people waiting to talk with the pilots so I had little time to capture the shot. A one-shot chance at 24mm focal length with on-camera flash for some fill. Handheld, on an overcast day with the nose of the plane pointing up to the sky, I had no means of controlling the blown-out light through the windows. I love the relaxed posture and expression of the pilot and felt that the shot deserved a light pass of added grain and a slight sepia tone in post. All of the flyers and crews are volunteering their time for this mammoth endeavour. I wish them all well.
Enjoy!
