Project number 19 of 20 for 2025: Wood Pillar Candle Holder
I always prefer pillar candles to taper candles, but a lot of times the wax can spill over if you're not looking and make a mess. I made a little bit of a well in this wood slice, which should take care of any spillage. Side note: the wood also came from a tree that fell down on my property after a bad rain storm. Win-win!

the ANSH scavenger challenge was "play with fire, safely" and of course i left it off to the last day when i am not even at home. luckily, a dear one had quite a few these pillar candles which are not real but battery-operated and even flicker realistically.

I created the artwork on the wall using giftwrap, then built the rest of this temporary vignette around it. I fell in love with the print and the bold, saturated colors immediately. For me, it brings to mind the artist, Peter Max.

A 3 inch diameter X 4 1/2 inches tall palm wax pillar candle fragranced with Chestnuts and Brown Sugar. The candle scent “Chestnuts and Brown Sugar” is synonymous with the thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The sweet aroma is reminiscent of roasted chestnuts and brown sugar. This palm wax pillar candle has a strong bouquet that will soon find its way into every corner of the room. I have colored the palm wax pillar candle a olive lime green. The surface crystal formations typical for palm wax give the pillar candle a silvery hue.

This is water from a spray bottle used to douse a pillar candle, timing is crucial and it took quite a few shots to get the required effect.
I used two off camera flash guns, a Nikon Speedlite underneath the subject and an old Olympus T32 fired from behind a homemade snoot so as to not cast light on the black background.
Strobist work can be very rewarding and I encourage people to try, and the more unusual the subject the better.

A handmade natural palm wax pillar candle strong scented with the candle fragrance, Frankincense and Myrrh. The natural palm wax pillar candle is 3 inches in diameter, 4 1/2 inches tall and weighs one pound. The palm wax pillar candle scent is an enchanting aromatic blend of frankincense and myrrh with hints of balsam, spice, patchouli and sandalwood. This candle fragrance is infused with essential oils. The fragranced candle has a strong but not heavy exotic smell that will soon spread throughout the room. The wick is engineered to self trim; cut 3/16 to 1/4 inches only when necessary to prevent wild flickering and to lower the flame; a little flicker is okay. It is important to keep the wick centered within the wax pool and to burn the candle 2 – 2 ½ hours allowing it to cool before relighting to obtain the maximum performance from the candle. This is an home made lavender scented candle. It's made out of Palm wax, which is a totally renewable energy source. Plus palm wax can have patterns all across the wax. You can barely see it on the lip of this candle, but it has really nice "feather pattern". The blue candle in the background is a blueberry scented soy candle (another type of renewable candle wax). You can also see a part of a peach scented candle (I made the color a little to red though)
