You never know what you'll find when you walk the streets of New York. I don't know the story behind this street art but I do know it was inspired by artist Piet Mondrian's colorful geometric abstract paintings.
Just hanging out...

"Things are beautiful or ugly only in time and space. The new man's vision being liberated from these two factors, all is unified in one unique beauty."

This one is special to me as my granddaughter (5 years old) did draw my attention to the special reflection effect of the Tetris lamp on the marbles she was playing with.
Later that day, when she was gone to bed, I replaced her marbles with clear ones and did find an excellent soft reflecting surface to place the marbles on.
As a big admirer of the beautiful art of my countryman Piet Mondrian

I was immediately enthusiastic about this resulting
"Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow".

A master of the straight line, the perfect grid, and primary colors, Piet Mondrian (1872–1944) is one of the founders of historical abstraction and the leading figure of the De Stijl movement, in its quest for a total art. The Dutch artist aimed to create a universal yet radical pictorial language, without neglecting the spiritual dimension. Alongside Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich, but in a very different style, Mondrian marked the birth of modern art.
He said
"I construct lines and color combinations on flat surfaces in order to express, with the utmost awareness, general beauty."

A very happy weekend !
Inspiration from Marcel Duchamp (Bicycle Wheel, 1913) and the hallway at the Modern and Contemporary Hall of the Philadelphia Art Museum. I also emphasized the color palette used in many of Piet Mondrian pieces. OK anyone care to guess where I was yesterday! Woke up this morning and this is what was on my mind.
Happy Slider Sunday - HSS
Piet Mondrian (eigentlich Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan; * 7. März 1872 in Amersfoort, Niederlande; † 1.
