Something special to see in downtown park of Green Cove Springs this season is maybe 100 trees that folks have decorated for the holiday. They range from tributes to love ones to businesses to just folks Xmas decorated trees. Took some shots during the daytime and put them through a Medhi Kaleidoscope filter in Photoshop. These are the results. This is a simple 4 leaf kaleidoscope. You can see the trees and details in the edges of this one.

This is a re-working (in Photoshop CS6) of the photograph in the first comment box below.
The inspiration for doing this was seeing this photograph (which I really liked) produced by Stefanie T - www.flickr.com/photos/stimmermann/38762259645/in/photostr...
The result that you see was obtained by using the original photograph (rotated 90 degrees and cropped), superimposing a negative image of the original, applying an 'emboss' treatment and then changing the blending mode to 'difference.
Good or Bad? - I don't know, but at least it kept me amused for half an hour :-))

This photo, from a previous summer, has been bumped up slightly with processing. After uploading hundreds of bee photos, they all begin to look alike...and a bit ho hum. Most important thing here, I think, is to have a photo that catches one's eye.
I tried to think of a way to hint at when this was taken, without just saying it. It occurred to me that I could mention the movie that won the Oscar that year. Turns out that that doesn't help much, since no one saw any of these movies anyway. Here is a list of the best picture nominees:
The Artist – Thomas Langmann, producerdouble-dagger
The Descendants – Jim Burke, Jim Taylor, and Alexander Payne, producers
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close – Scott Rudin, producer
The Help – Brunson Green, Chris Columbus, and Michael Barnathan, producers
Hugo – Graham King and Martin Scorsese, producers
Midnight in Paris – Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum, producers
Moneyball – Michael De Luca, Rachael Horovitz, and Brad Pitt, producers
The Tree of Life – Dede Gardner, Sarah Green, Grant Hill, and Bill Pohlad, producers
War Horse – Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, producers
my photo for the wild ones themed homework: September was as the title implies; broken
It was definitely a roller coaster editing this. I cycled through 4 other base photos before I finally stuck with this one. But ya know breaking a face apart in PS and actually making it look somewhat good was a challenge in its self. But Im happy with the outcome! Ive been watching a lot of people's speed edits and took mental notes on some of the techniques they used in post (mostly on selective editing) , and man, they helped a lot!
