"Moiré pattern occurs when a scene or an object that is being photographed contains repetitive details (such as lines, dots, etc) that exceed the sensor resolution. As a result, the camera produces a strange-looking wavy pattern"

Taken at Lodi, CA. The original Wine Country.

Beneath the quiet hush of the forest floor, where the light barely filters through the canopy, a moment of life unfolds in secret. With wings like velvet painted in iridescent blue, the Archduke butterfly descends—not to bask in sunlight, but to feast on decay.

A forgotten fruit, shriveled and blackened, becomes a treasure trove of nutrients. The butterfly unrolls its slender proboscis and drinks deeply, drawing sustenance from what the forest leaves behind. There is elegance in this moment—where beauty meets the cycle of life and death, where even rot plays a vital role.

Here, in the silence, the Archduke reigns—not by grandeur or glory, but by the quiet persistence of life in the shadows.

Embrace of the Ceylon Oak

In the heart of the emerald glade,

Where whispers of ancient stories wade,

Stands the Ceylon oak, steadfast and grand,

A sentinel of time, in this lush land.

With a crown of red, new leaves unfurl,

Like tiny flames in a gentle swirl,

Each bud a promise, each leaf a sigh,

Embracing the sun, reaching for the sky.

Roots deep in the earth, they cradle the past,

Silent witness to seasons, forever cast,

While breezes dance through its canopied throne,

In the symphony of life, it stands alone.

Chiaroscuro literally means “light/dark.” The term traditionally refers to Renaissance paintings where the subject is well-lit and three-dimensional, usually with exaggerated shadows and highlights, and a background that transitions into darker, heavily-shadowed areas.
