Don just got out of the hospital (sclerosis of the liver). The doctors told him he won't reach 50 if he doesn't stop drinking. He is 44. He's been"drinking and drugging" since he was 13.

I was standing in a loft like area with hundreds and hundreds of poetry books, from here I could stand on a stool and see down the long aisles of fiction, into the true crime section, and beyond that the childrens book aisles, to the front wall which houses the rarest books in the store. This place is so easy to get lost in, and to accidentally spend all of your monies.
When I am here I feel like I fell down a rabbit hole and ended up in the place of all knowledge.

Looking down one of the many aisles of fiction. I can and have spent hours and hours touching book spines, feeling the texture of paper, and letting the stories seep into me.
I think I found a way todo my idee fixe assignment for photography class. It is supposed to be something you take SO MANY PICTURES of and you are exhausting all the ways to take pictures of your obsession.
I am obsessed with taking pictures and collecting pictures of my family, and searching through the layers of time to find out their story which resides inside of me.
2. My great grandfather was a lapidary wizard. I was so fascinated by his cases and cases of polished rocks. The colors and the patterns thrilled (thrill) me. I love how the rocks show the earths ancestry and the stories of time.
I have made a couple of these layered pieces. and I think with more experimentation I could be onto something kind of fun.
One of a series of images inspired by an assignment given my nephew, Matthew Upchurch, who is studying photography at Columbus State Community College, in Ohio. He was telling me about a list of upcoming themes for 10-shot assignments, one of which was "Lend Me Your Ear". He was wondering HOW one might take a photograph on Such a Topic, and I, with my big mouth, said.. "Oh, if it seems impossible, that's the one to go for. I'd enjoy a theme like that." He tells me his instructor, Maria Minelli, LIKED that idea, invited me to submit mine as a guest, and so I started dreaming up images for it.
Simultaneously, Photoworkshop.com, the workshop website, had a Weekly Assignment to create a Photo Project. Synergistic Serendipity can be a powerful excuse to just go make a few crazy shots.
I have withheld uploading these, due to the extended deadline of Matt's class project, which ends this week, as I understood it. So, Lend me your Eyes, eh?
Sheesh!.. Now I'm REALLY hoping I'll pass!

You've been seeing a lot of my friend Summer lately, and you're going to see a lot more of her in the future, as well.
As part of my application to the Fashion Institute of Technology as a photography major, I need to capture a person through 6 different photos/photo shoots, and I've chosen Summer to be my subject. She is a phenomenal actress and model who I'm lucky to call one of my best friends :)
For this shoot in particular, Summer and I spent the day in New York City, shooting in the glorious wonderland that is Central Park in the fall.

This made me laugh, like really hard. I loved it. Also this room houses cookbooks as well. There is a place where the shelves on the right are religious, and on the left are books about chocolate. I call this room cooking with Christ
