This is #03 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Far Away"
I actually don't go very far away from home. I try to travel south 25 miles to visit my mother once a week, or so. And, while I'm there, I usually try to visit a place that I frequented in my childhood. This is a pair of photos that I took today at Camp Ellis in Saco. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But, I think the shore across the mouth of the Saco River in these photos is Hills Beach in Biddeford.

2 oz Whiskey, .5 oz simple syrup, 2 dashes Angostura Bitters, orange zest. Strain into chilled glass or over fresh ice.
This is #09 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Something You Do Most Weekends"
I fell behind last weekend because I was busy helping Mom pack and move. Then, I started taking photos again but I'm obsessive, so I can't post photos out of order or skip days. It's a sickness. So, to fill in the missing days, I've found photos from the archives that fit the them.
This photo is a couple of years old. I try to do some housework each weekend.
We've since changed the decor, removed the rugs, upgraded computers, etc.
This is #05 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Bright"
There was no sun this morning, so I was trying to think of how else to represent today's "bright" theme. But, then the sun came out this afternoon!
This is #26 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Near"
The Presumpscot River is near my office in Westbrook. There is a mile-long river walk that runs from the old Dana Warp Mill to the old SD Warren Paper Mill. I try to walk the length of the river walk as often as possible.

This is #21 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Sometimes"
Sometimes... I go to Brazier's Barber Shop in Westbrook. It's conveniently located across the street from my office, inexpensive, and no appointment needed. Sometimes, I go to a hairdresser and sometimes I shear my head with clippers. :-)

This is #27 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Love/Hate"
Generally speaking, I have always loved my job. I hate when office politics and egos get involved. But, that comes with the territory in most any profession, I guess.
Here is a part of my job that I definitely love... art directing photo shoots... or, in this case, a video shoot. It probably seems odd to shoot video of inanimate objects. This shot is for a television commercial. We panned the shot of our product line from left to right, ending on a still shot of The Total Transformation Program, our flagship product.

A little table that's been sitting in my office area waiting for it's next assignment, which will be coming within the week.
This is #02 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Father"
My Dad passed away in 2009. A few years before that, I made this family tree for him because he had Alzheimer's and often couldn't remember or recognize members of the immediate family. It ended up being a great memory tool for him.
#photoadayseptember | 30 | You, Then
This is #30 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "You, Then"
I used to sleep in this position. My Mom thought it was cute, so she took a photo, then blew it up to 8" x 10", then framed it, then hung it on the wall in her house... for 47 years.
Let the snide comments begin...
This is #08 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "At Night"
You should have seen the lighting setup I had to create in order to take this photo at night! Wow! Haha.
Actually, I spent most of the day at the picturesque Old Ocean House Farms in Cape Elizabeth, Maine helping out with food and beverage at a garden party, and I thought it would be a shame NOT to take my photo of the day there.
So, I took this photo at around 4:00 this afternoon. But, I figure it was "night" somewhere.
This is #11 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Hero"
And, here is the hero of the week... Mom... a.k.a., Connie. She is adjusting well to her move from the home that she lived in for 41 years and raised me and my brother in... into a semi-assisted living apartment in a retirement community.

This is #16 in an September photo-a-day project that includes a random challenge each day. Today's challenge... "Strange"
I visited Connie (Mom) today. It's very strange visiting her at her new retirement/semi-assisted living facility, instead of the house that I grew up in where she has lived for 41 years.

Most days, I wake up and see if anyone has played their turn on Words With Friends. I love playing against Patrick Desmond, because we are so evenly matched, as you can see in this VERY narrow victory! Your turn for victory next, Patrick! :-)

Recycled Stained Glass inserted into a new Frame and then into an old door that's been in the shed for 22 years and newly repurposed for the new greenhouse. (And yes, that's an old doorknocker recycled too.)

The price to assist a sweet friend through a serious rough time... $39. I would have paid more if I could have helped more. :-/

The giant Pysanka Egg in Vegreville. The signage states it has 177 Internal struts that supports 6,978 nuts and bolts, and for you Math Geeks - in 1975 it was the first practical application of the theory of mathematical curve definition known as B-splines. I could go on, but don't worry, I won't.

Quite possibly the biggest and most unattractive pads known to woman. Way to go, Poise. If my sink springs a leak (not a euphemism), I'll know what I can use instead of a towel!
