I used this trick quite a bit in my self portrait project. It creates the illusion of height. It also makes other things look bigger... my feet, for example.

Believe it or not the only thing photoshopped in this photo - is my phone. I took it from another photo from the same set. The orginial photo the phone was leaning further down so you couldnt see the date on the phone.

Here's how I did it. I used a larger bag, threw my camera with the fisheye lens inside. I had the flash on and 2 light boxes on the outside. I had a shutter release cable attached to the camera. I held the bag open from above and used a few dog treats.

Soft down comforter. The focus is kind of soft too. I used the lower megapixel front camera on the iPhone because I wanted to be able to see what I was doing. Otherwise, the photo would have come out really goofy. Well... goofier than this one.

Before I point out the imperfection, let me point out a positive aspect. This photo features my green eyes, which have always been a favorite feature of mine. And, those are my natural lashes. :-)

I am SO not into pointing out imperfections in myself or others. It's much more productive to focus on positive aspects. But, that's why they call this a "challenge."

My cleft lip scar is an imperfection that I struggled with in my youth, came to grips with in my early adulthood and have ultimately come to embrace.

Yesterday was the Southern Maine Pride parade and festival. And, in the evening was LIFE Portland, the event that I've been working on for the last few months. The event and the performances were both great successes. I have yet to see a photo of me wearing only the red underwear. I'm sure there are some out there.

This is my updated, documented version of my grandma's delicious beef stew - care packages of it kept me going through cold Ottawa winters in university and always was a source of comfort. Now I'm attempting to return the favour! It really is a "throw in whatever you have" recipe, so I played around with farmer's market goodies like fresh peas, carrots, peppers and potatoes!

Tonight was the un-dress rehearsal for the HIV/AIDS benefit performance that is taking place this coming Saturday. It's called LIFE Portland and it's taking place at Port City Music Hall during Southern Maine Pride.

MissE... Melissa Cloutier ... of Red Hot & Ladylike Dance Studio has proven to be invaluable to this event. She's choreographing, coaching, bringing friendship and support... AND performing!

The house was built in 1998. The master bath was remodeled in 2009. It can't be seen in this photo, but there is also a walk-in shower that is about 4 feet by 6 feet with 2 shower heads.

No matter what I do or what I try, I have a constant rash / breakout on my chin. It's pretty much 100% scar tissue now.

Our friends Ashley and Erik invited us out on their boat on Sebago lake today. Erik got a lot of movement wakeboarding. I was going to try it but the weather turned on us. I'll try it next time when it's sunnier and the water is warmer.

If you've seen the official LIFE tshirt for 2012, you know that it's gray, not yellow. But, when Shane Ruff was printing them for us, he printed this yellow one for me. I love it, but I think the gray shirt was a better choice for mass appeal and to go with the chain/prison theme for this year.

I mostly shop at Hannaford in Falmouth. I love the architecture of the ceiling in produce. With the metal roof, it's really freaky to be in the store during a major rainstorm.
