Before I could even connect my laptop to the projector I had a question about if I was going to show how to actually build and deploy PhoneGap applications. The answer? Yes, for both iOS and Android. Apparently a lot of people talk about PhoneGap and the APIs, but few show the detailed process of getting started, or putting anything on a device. In this picture I'm showing the (harder) Eclipse workflow.
Dan Pfeiffer, a developer at Float Learning, investigated how to take advantage of Web technologies (including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript) to build a cross-platform mobile app. The presentation covered important steps towards optimizing a Web app for a mobile device as well as using PhoneGap to expose core device features, like the accelerometer or the camera, to an app.
