Miss B has a theory — that the better a philosopher you are, the worse are your drawing skills. So, we put this to the test, and what we found is at least one if not two aberrations, since at least two of the drawings on this napkin (provided care of Cibo cafe on the corner of Rundle & Frome) are very good, and one is done by a professional philosopher (who shall remain unnamed) and the other is done by someone who is very good at philosophy (they too shall remain unnamed). A total of 7 philosophers contributed to this experiment. :-)

a new aquaintance @ local starbucks. he called himself a hermit of sorts but truly one of the most captivating individuals my friend and I met have ever met. we listened to him talk for over an hour. most memorable thing he said was that time and thought were 2 of the most important things a person can value in ones life. mentioned many authors who inspired him including samuel beckett and marcel proust.
I know the title has nothing to do with the image but the name was the first thing that came to my mind when I was processing the image. Hulshoff is a furniture company and the young boy sitting under it has nothing to do with it, it was the youth and the stone (cement-block) which inspired the name. The philosopher's stone is a legendary substance, believed to be a means of making people younger, if not making them immortal as well as capable of turning inexpensive metals into gold.
