A little girl plays enthusiastically on the sun-drenched beach in spite of the intense heat - perhaps just like the way she often does on hot summer days.
At present, it is still rainy season in the Philippines; at this time of the year, however, the occurrence of rains is less frequent, although the threat of more typhoons and thunder storms cannot yet be totally discounted.

The Philippines, an archipelago of over 7,000 islands, is home to thousands of small coastal and island communities whose livelihoods revolve around the sea. Nasingin Island is a 1km sandbar in the Camotes sea populated by approximately 2000 residents. At 52,875 people per square kilometer Nasingin is listed as one of the densely populated islands in the world. In fact, the sand bar is very narrow, supporting one tiny road through the island, and most of the 1-2 story houses are built on stilts over the water.
