it is one of the oldest continuously running pharmacies in Europe, having always been in business in the same house since the early 15th century. It is also the oldest commercial enterprise and the oldest medical establishment in Tallinn.

Coming back through town after getting our second Covid shots, I took this photo with my phone. There was no where to stop here, and I had the same ‘we don’t stop for anything’ chauffeur. In fact, I think you can see our truck in the window.

This would be the Fitts plantation pharmacy building constructed
between 1830 and 1840. It was used as a pharmacy. Next door the White Force Cottage.

Germany, Lüneburg "Alte Raths Apotheke", Old council Pharmacy, in the year 1475 the city council of Lüneburg buys an already existing pharmacy in "Grosse Bäckerstraße 5" & forms the name of the pharmacy which is still valid today. In 1524 the pharmacy is relocated to Große Bäckerstraße 9, where it is still located today. In 1598, the present building is completed under the direction of council apothecary Ulricus Luthmer. The sandstone portal is by Meister Köhler
Above the entrance & in the Taustein-frieze, eaves side is called 1598 as a year of construction. Taustein is an unusual formed brick for a special purpose. It must be assumed, however, that a Gothic predecessor building was rebuilt & this year was the present form with the Renaissance portal. The extension with the former ballroom was built around 1500. The front gable is designed as a 9-part stepped gable, horizontally structured by four superimposed rows of squares of stone blocks & quarter circle stones & cornices. The backside gable is a simple gable triangle with small segmental arched windows & brick arches. The cellar contains a groin vault, the ground, intermediate & upper floors have often been rebuilt over the time. However, the basic structures are still easy to recognize.
There were found ceiling paintings from the 16th century & old floors. On the loft is an old herbal chamber with remains of a historic painting.
