"The Mothership" is the centerpiece stage prop used by George Clinton and his multiple bands during their live concert performances. This object is a near-exact replica of the slightly larger Mothership that was used exclusively at the closing moments of concerts during the height of the band's popularity from 1976-1981. This replica prop was built from metal, plastic, and glass in the mid 1990s and used on the "Mothership Reconnection Tour"

Quando si pensa al Funk il primo nome che viene in mente è quello di Maceo Parker.

Nessun musicista più di lui rappresenta l’essenza stessa del genere, sin dagli esordi al fianco di James Brown, intorno alla metà degli anni sessanta.

Il marchio del suo sax ha segnato indelebilmente i successi del “Padrino del Soul”, a cui ha impresso il suo leggendario groove. Una carriera ultra-quarantennale costellata di successi e riconoscimenti, collaborazioni di prestigio (oltre al lungo sodalizio con James Brown ha suonato con Prince, Parliament/Funkadelic, Brian Ferry, Living Colour, Material, De La Soul, George Clinton, etc.) e una quindicina di album solisti di altissimo livello. Un artista straordinario che riesce ad essere contemporaneamente una forza della natura in termini di “spinta” ed un raffinatissimo strumentista dalla tecnica sopraffina.

Ha cominciato a suonare alla tenera età di 11 anni e ben presto il suo talento e il suo stile si sono rivelati in quel particolare modo di suonare il sax, più vicino alla batteria che al suono che si addice ad uno strumento melodico; al modello musicale di Charlie Parker ha aggiunto una sferzata funk dalle sfumature più percussive, con il risultato di ottenere una miscela trascinante, irresistibile, che invita a muoversi e ballare senza tregua.
