That video-call the other day went so long...

In a short coffe-break I saw those beautiful Louis of Nutwood - Baseplates here on flickr and while the call went on, I saw some bricks lying around -this little tabelescrap is the result. I hope you like it:-)

A Peyote Tapestry well under way - it is done by following a pattern and by stitching one tiny seed bead to the next in the right order by colour to create a picture or a pattern !!

Note , someone else is doing this , my only creative medium involves a camera - and that is debatable as well !!

My Peyote (Lophophora williamsii) enjoys the last days of summer here in Munich

That is an older stack, pandemic times, one of my peyote buttons (lophophora williamsii) flowering, it was a bit tricky not blocking the light with the lens yet have it go inside the blossoms and cast a bit of a shadow. Also visible, the multicolor sparkle / relfection of the plant cells with natural light macros, less so with the petals, mainly the flesh of the cactus.

I like seeing my succulents and cacti flower, not only pretty, they are also telling me that they are doing ok.

Peyote is perhaps the most famous psychoactive plant. It has been utilized for centuries by native peoples for both its medicinal and hallucinogenic effects. Today Peyote is a controlled substance in the United States due to its use as a recreational drug. It is, however, legal for many native tribes to harvest and consume for ritualistic purposes.

Though it may be illegal to harvest or possess, this has not stopped poachers from devastating Peyote populations to sell them on the black market. As a result it is becoming scarce in all but the most inaccessible portions of its range.

In the United States Peyote is known only from extreme southern and western Texas. Here it occurs in desert scrub and arid brushland, typically growing beneath dense shrubs. It is one of three spineless cacti in Texas. We were lucky enough to observe some in bloom on an extensive private ranch in the Tamaulipan Thornscrub of South Texas.

Didn't catch his name, but the human told us the master's name was Peyote. We pulled up next to them along the I-5 in Portland. D' took this shot between brief conversation while we waited for the light to change.

...

Named after one of my favorite Egyptian sculptures. I've been saving the name in my memory file, and I finally have a sculpture worthy of the name, I hope.
