Antal Simonyi was the first Hungarian photographer to leave a lasting oeuvre behind, who scored international success and who was equally gifted as a painter, a writer, a journalist and a politician.
Simonyi is the most.renowned photographer of portraits between 1850 and 1870. In his studio nearly everybody turned up who counted at that time.

"Simonyi Antal (1821-1892) festőként kezdte pályafutását, de igazán a fotográfiában találta meg önmagát. Utazásai alatt (Bécs, Velence, Firenze, Róma után Párizs következett) a festészet mellett a fényképezést kezdte tanulmányozni. 1847-ben hazatérve, figyelmét továbbra is lekötötte az új ábrázolási, képalkotási mód. A szabadságharc alatti tevékenységét nem ismerjük, de következtetni lehet rá, ugyanis 1851-ben letartóztatták a szocialista tanok magyarországi terjesztése miatt. 1852 végén szabadult a börtönből, s ezután intenzíven foglalkozott a fényképezéssel. Munkáival már 1855-ben szerepelt a Párizsi Világkiállításon, és pillanatfelvételi találmánya alkalmazásával készült képeiért elsőrendű aranyérmet kapott. Párizsból hazatérve 1856 tavaszán műtermet nyitott a Váci utca 1-ben. Továbbra is foglalkozott a fényképezés elméleti kérdéseivel, de ugyanakkor ő lett az egyik legdivatosabb, legtöbbet foglalkoztatott fényképész. 1871-ben Simonyi Antalt választották meg az egyébként tiszavirág életű Magyar Fényképészek Egylete elnökének. Karrierje 1883-ban, a gazdasági válság miatt kettétört. Új műtermének építési költségei csődbe juttatták."

From gold to blue now back to gold? Come on, what do expect this is Budapest.
This is your typical postcard view of Budapest, it's been done a thousand times before, but only once by me, and I want it in my stream. This is the Széchenyi Chain Bridge with the Buda Castle in the background. The castle sits perched atop Castle Hill on the West Bank of the Danube River. It is the historical castle of the Hungarian kings. The first Royal Residence was built on top of the hill by King Béla IV of Hungary between 1247 and 1265. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
This is the best composition I could come up with, in the time I had. I wish I would have been over on this side before complete darkness, but I was busy here instead.
It still works for me though, the light on the bridge and the golden glow of the castle make it look rich.
From here we move on to another country in Eastern/Central Europe. Which way are we going from here, East, West, North... no one knows, but me.
We'll say goodbye to Budapest and Hungary for now, but maybe we'll be around again.

a tablespoon of crushed leaves of lavender flowers.
