While browsing through the old photos on my phone, I came across some wonderful memories from my visit to Perun Mountain at the start of last year. I strolled along the narrow paths of this lesser-known mountain, a sibling to the more famous Mosor Mountain, in search of tranquility amidst the bustling city of Split, which was clearly visible from my vantage point in the picture. It was truly a moment of discovery. I ventured deep into the cold winter night, yet my heart yearned to linger near the quaint St. George's Chapel. I promise myself to return there in the near future.

In this black and white photograph taken on the hill Perun, high above the picturesque village of Gornja Podstrana, a breathtaking panoramic view unfolds before your eyes. The vantage point offers a commanding perspective, showcasing the magnificent city of Split, nestled alongside the sparkling waters of the Adriatic Sea. As your gaze sweeps across the landscape, the neighboring towns of Stobreč and Podstrana reveal themselves, adding charm to the already stunning scene.

The absence of color in this monochromatic composition enhances the timeless beauty of the view, emphasizing the intricate play of light and shadows that dance upon the landscape. In the distance, the islands of Šolta, Drvenik Veli and Čiovo emerge from the glistening sea, adding a touch of enchantment to the horizon.

This photo captures the essence of tranquility and grandeur, inviting you to immerse yourself in the serenity of the hill Perun while marveling at the interconnectedness of nature and human settlements. It serves as a reminder of the awe-inspiring beauty that can be found in the world, even in the simplest of moments, and encourages a pause to appreciate the remarkable landscapes that surround us.

" Trinakria "est une goélette à trois mâts, lancée en 1927. C'était alors un rois-mâts goélette (barkentine) destinée à servir de voilier-école sous le nom de Perun.

"Trinakria" is a three-masted schooner, launched in 1927. She was then a king-masted schooner (barkentine) intended to serve as a sail training ship under the name Perun.

The monastery was established between 1070 and 1077 by Vsevolod, son of Yaroslav the Wise. It was a family cloister of Vsevolod's son Vladimir Monomakh and his descendants.

The monastery, and the neighbourhood in present-day Kyiv where it is located, was named after an old Slavic legend about the pagan god Perun and the Grand Prince Vladimir the Great of Kyiv. The word "Vydubychi" comes from the word Vydobychi → Vydobych → Vydobech (Ukrainian: Видобичі → Видобич → Видобеч) which means "to swim up", "emerge from water".

The legend has it that Vladimir ordered the wooden figures of Perun (the Thunder God) and other pagan gods dumped into the Dnieper River during the mass Baptism of Kyiv. The disheartened Kyivans, though accepting the baptism, ran along the Dnieper River calling for the old gods to emerge from water (Перуне выдуби!). Accordingly, the area down the river stream where Perun emerged was named Vydubichu or Vydubychi in modern Ukrainian.

Our great-grandfathers believed that witches had no power over rowan. Ukrainians believe that in the confrontation with Russia, which is like a witch trying to destroy Ukraine, Ukraine will win and return to a peaceful life.

Our great-grandfathers considered the mountain ash to be equal to the oak. linden, willow sacred tree. They believed that Perun's lightning (as red as its berries) hides in the rowan tree's crown. A rowan branch with berries was perceived as a symbol of Perun's staff, able to protect a person from all troubles. From time immemorial there has been a ban on picking, breaking, and washing rowan flowers and berries. It was allowed to cut its large branches only for the sticks of clergymen and travelers who set off on a long journey.

Vydubychi Monastery (in the foreground of the photo)

The monastery was established between 1070 and 1077 by Vsevolod, son of Yaroslav the Wise. It was a family cloister of Vsevolod's son Vladimir Monomakh and his descendants.

The monastic complex stands on the picturesque slopes of the Dnieper River in the Vydubichi Hole, which is situated on the territory of the capital's Central Botanical Garden.

The word "Vydubychi" comes from the word Vydobychi → Vydobych → Vydobech (Ukrainian: Видобичі → Видобич → Видобеч) which means "to swim up", "emerge from water".

The origin of the area's and monastery's unusual name is connected with an ancient legend. According to it, the Prince Vladimir the Great decided to baptize Kyivan Rus and ordered to collect all idols of the pagan God Perun and to throw them in the Dnieper. The place, where the wooden statues 'vydybaly', that is swam ashore, was called Vydubichi.

The monastery was established between 1070 and 1077 by Vsevolod, son of Yaroslav the Wise. It was a family cloister of Vsevolod's son Vladimir Monomakh and his descendants.Only a few churches of this monastery have survived over the centuries. One of these is the Collegiate Church of Saint Michael, which was built on behest of Vsevolod I and partly reconstructed between 1766 and 1769 by architect M. I. Yurasov. The Ukrainian baroque structures include the magnificent 5-domed St. George Cathedral, Transfiguration of the Saviour Church and refectory, all dating from 1696-1701. A belltower, commissioned by the Hetman Danylo Apostol, was erected in 1727-33 and built up in 1827-31.

The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a jubilee coin with a face value of 5 hryvnias. This coin celebrates St. Michael's Vydubychi Monastery, which was founded by Vsevolod, a son of Yaroslav the Wise, in an area called Vydubychi, which lies on the southern outskirts of Kyiv. According to a chronicle, the area derives its name from the Ukrainian word “vidibati” (to surface). In that area, a wooden idol of the pagan god Perun surfaced after being dumped into the Dnipro River near the Old Kyiv Mount when Christianity was declared the official of Kyiv Rus. St. Michael's Church, which was built in the latter quarter of the 11th century, was the monastery's first masonry church. In the early 12th century, the monastery became one of the places where chronicles were written. The monastery owned many lands with crossing points on the Dnipro River and its tributary - the Lybid River. The monastery played an active role in the political life of Kyiv Rus. Before battle, soldiers usually gathered near St. Michael's Church. The monastery, which is a national architectural monument, took its modern shape in the late 17th and the early 18th centuries, when several structures were added to it. These included St. George's Cathedral, one of the best masterpieces of the Ukrainian Baroque style, the monastery refectory, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, and a bell tower.

For the second Division Finale round "Fantasy Folklore" Tara created a tribute to Slavic mythology and brings on stage a lovely, respectful, and divine image of... TARA the Slavic Goddess of the Guiding Star. She was the youngest daughter of Perun, sister of Tarkh-Dazhdbog, and patron-protector of Belovodye (the territory of Western Siberia) is called together with Eastern Siberia as “The Great Tartaria” (this name existed on world maps till 18th century), that is the land of Tarkh and Tara.

Name "TARA" we can find in many other world mythologies, most closest are Indian and Sumerian. Goddess Tara (sanskrit "savior") is considered a special patroness of women, bringing them knowledge and protection on their spiritual path. The main symbolic colors of this goddess are White - giving longevity and Green - protecting from misfortunes and troubles. This goddess was filled with love, attention, care, kindness, and tenderness. She showed all these feelings to both nature and Humankind. At times, the Slavic peoples called upon the North Star in honor of the goddess Tara.

Kupchino

In the north, Kupchino borders on the Volkovo district along Fuchika Street [1]. In the east it is separated by Sofiyskaya street from the industrial zone of the Obukhovo district. In the west, the Kupchino region is bounded from the Moskovsky region by the Volkovka River and the track of the Oktyabrskaya railway. In the south, beyond Kupchin, an industrial zone begins on the territory of the former state farm Shushary.

The area is located in the Neva lowland, in the middle reaches of one of the southern tributaries of the Neva, the Volkovka River, formerly also called Setuy The soils are clayey, sometimes swampy. The natural vegetation was shrub, birch and mountain ash.

By the time of construction, Kupchino is conditionally divided into Northern (also Old) Kupchino, built up since 1964, and Southern (or New) Kupchino, where construction has been going on since the 1970s. The natural boundary was the bed of the Volkovka River (approximately in the area of the modern Alpiysky Lane): before its backfilling, mass construction was carried out to the north of the river, after its partial backfilling in 1972-1973. (the river was straightened and enclosed in the Volkov Canal, which flows along the Vitebsk line of the Oktyabrskaya railway), the development of the territory located to the south began

Kupcha's quarries are located in the eastern part of the district. On the hills formed by the dumps of the Brick Factory south of Yaroslav Gashek Street, in 1999a group of enthusiasts equipped the so-called temple of Perun, which lasted until 2007

WIKI

Apparently, the media intends to pull out the history of mankind, apparently, someone came up with the idea that Zeus is a fictional character created for comics, certainly, these dogs want to erase our memories.

This is what I know about Zeus:

Zeus is the sky and thunder god in ancient Greek religion, who rules as king of the gods of Mount Olympus. His name is cognate with the first element of his Roman equivalent Jupiter. His mythologies and powers are similar, though not identical, to those of Indo-European deities such as Jupiter, Perkūnas, Perun, Indra, Dyaus, and Thor.

Zeus is the child of Cronus and Rhea, the youngest of his siblings to be born, though sometimes reckoned the eldest as the others required disgorging from Cronus's stomach. In most traditions, he is married to Hera, by whom he is usually said to have fathered Ares, Hebe, and Hephaestus. At the oracle of Dodona, his consort was said to be Dione, by whom the Iliad states that he fathered Aphrodite. Zeus was also infamous for his erotic escapades. These resulted in many divine and heroic offspring, including Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Persephone, Dionysus, Perseus, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Minos, and the Muses.

He was respected as an allfather who was chief of the gods and assigned roles to the others: "Even the gods who are not his natural children address him as Father, and all the gods rise in his presence." He was equated with many foreign weather gods, allowing Pausanias to observe "That Zeus is king in heaven is a saying common to all men". Zeus' symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull, and oak. In addition to his Indo-European inheritance, the classical "cloud-gatherer" (Greek: Νεφεληγερέτα, Nephelēgereta) also derives certain iconographic traits from the cultures of the ancient Near East, such as the scepter. Zeus is frequently depicted by Greek artists in one of two poses: standing, striding forward with a thunderbolt leveled in his raised right hand or seated in majesty.

The name of the god in nominative is Ζεύς (Zeús). It is declined as follows: vocative: Ζεῦ (Zeû); accusative: Δία (Day); genitive: Διός (God); dative: Διί (Dií). Diogenes Laërtius quotes Pherecydes of Syros when spelling the name Ζάς.

Zeus is the Greek continuation of * Di̯ēus, the name of the Proto-Indo-European god of the daytime sky, also called * Dyeus ph 2 tēr ("Father of the sky"). The god is known under this name in the Rig Veda (Vedic Sanskrit Dyaus / Dyaus Pita), Latin (compare Jupiter, from Iuppiter, which derives from the Proto-Indo-European vocative * dyeu-ph 2 ter), derived from the root * dyeu- ("to shine", and in its many derivatives, "heaven, heaven, god"). Zeus is the only deity in the Olympian pantheon whose name has such a transparent Indo-European etymology.

The first attested forms of the name are the Mycenaean Greek , di-we and , di-wo, written in the Linear B syllabic script.

Plato, in his Cratylus, gives a popular etymology of Zeus meaning "cause of life always for all things", due to puns between alternative titles of Zeus (Zen and Dia) with the Greek words for life and " because". This etymology, along with all of Plato's method of deriving etymologies, is not supported by modern scholarship, because they are the first who want to destroy mythology and history.

Diodorus Siculus wrote that Zeus was also called Zen because humans believed that he was the cause of life (Zen). While Lactantius wrote that his name was Zeus and Zen, not because he is the giver of life, but because he was the first of the children of Cronos to live.

The Pirin Mountains (Bulgarian: Пирин, Thracian Greek: Oρβηλος, Orbelos, "snow-white mountain") are a mountain range in southwestern Bulgaria, with Vihren (2,914 m high) the highest peak, situated at 41°45′50″N 23°25′30″E. The range extends about 40 km northwest-southeast, and about 25 km wide. Most of the range is protected in the Pirin National Park. The mountain is named after Perun (Cyrillic: Перун), the highest god of the Slavic pantheon and the god of thunder and lightning.[1]

To the north Pirin is separated from Bulgaria's highest mountain range, the Rila Mountains, by the Predel saddle, while to the south it reaches the Slavyanka mountain. To the west is located the valley of the Struma and to the east of the Mesta Rivers. Pirin is noted for its rich flora and fauna. Much of the area is forested, with the best conifer woods in Bulgaria, holding important populations of the Balkan endemic species Macedonian pine, Bosnian pine and Bulgarian fir. Animals include the wolf and the brown bear.

The town of Bansko, an important tourism and winter sports centre, is situated on the northeast slopes of the Pirin Mountains. The town of Razlog lies in Razlog Valley between Pirin Mountains to the south and the Rila Mountains to the north.

- Osmunda regalis, the royal fern, is a species of deciduous fern, native to Europe, Africa and Asia, growing in woodland bogs and on the banks of streams. The species is sometimes known as flowering fern due to the appearance of its fertile fronds. Osmunda regalis produces separate fertile and sterile fronds.

The name "royal fern" derives from its being one of the largest and most imposing European ferns.

According to Slavic mythology, the sporangia, called "Perun's flowers", have assorted magical powers, such as giving their holders the ability to defeat demons, fulfill wishes, unlock secrets, and understand the language of trees. However, collecting the sporangia is a difficult and frightening process. In earlier traditions, they must be collected on Kupala night; later, after the arrival of Christianity, the date is changed to Easter eve. Either way, the person wanting to collect Perun's flowers must stand within a circle drawn around the plant and withstand the taunting or threats of demons.

The area around the Perun mountain is full of toponyms, originating in the Old Slavs mythology / religion. The mighty god Veles was defeated by the Perun, the highest deity of Old Slavs / Croats and became the master of underground. This is supposedly one of his places - a very remote place in the woods, overhang wall (Kuk), perhaps a cave, and a small waterfall on the right. Today a weak path is reaching the place.

The sculpture weighs 7 tons and stands 36.5 feet high by 16 feet wide on a gray granite base.

Grounds for Sculpture - one small detail of a massive sculpture

Name: 'Space, Conquer or Die - Swiatowid'

Artist: Andrzej Pitynski

'Space, Conquer or Die - Swiatowid' was made by monumentalist sculptor Andrew Pitynski. He has created monuments sited all over the world, including in the United States, Poland, Italy, and South Africa. His work also includes monumental portraits, bronze compositions, reliefs and medals. This monumental composition was cast in bronze in Thailand and installed at Grounds For Sculpture in April 2014. The sculpture weighs 7 tons and stands 36.5 feet high by 16 feet wide on a gray granite base.

'Swiatowid' is inspired by ancient European art and legends, which are particularly fascinating to Pitynski. Swiatowid was a pagan god of the sun worshipped in pre-Christian Europe. The sun deity, lord of war, peace, and prosperity was represented with four faces. It was believed that every day, 'Swiatowid' with his long sword in one hand and drinking horn in the other, rode his white horse across the sky from East to West. For Pitynski, his 'Swiatowid' is a bridge between the deep past, the present, and the future.

Although representing an ancient legend, the whole composition in the form of a space ship ready to launch in the conquest of outer space. The top of the monument is in the form of a head with a helmet carrying the 14 stars of the European Union. The head has four faces, but each represents a different aspect of the one sun god. The youngest face is toward the East, and the oldest towards the North. The Eastern face has attributes of the god “Lada” lord of love, life, and happiness. The Southern face represents “Swarog” controller of the sun, the stars and the whole solar system. The face to the West is “Mokusz” god of prosperity, banquets and feasting, dance, music and art. Finally, the Northern face is “Perun” god of war, of thunder and lightning, and of natural catastrophes.

Beneath each of the faces are three reliefs. These portray life, love, war, the passage of time, solar symbols and an image of Swiatowid on his horse amongst the stars and planets. Four monumental knights standing 13.5 feet high surround the base of the column. These are the legendary ancestors of the European people. Facing East stands the Amazon, Wanda, queen of the Scythians and Sarmatians. Facing South is Boleslaw the Great, the first Christian king of Poland bearing the spear of St. Moritz which was given to him by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III. Looking West is Crak, the legendary king of the Sarmatians. Facing North is the first Christian Viking king, Canute the Great, who became king of England, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. He was the nephew of the Polish King Boleslaw the Great, as his mother, Brunhilda, was the sister of Boleslaw the Great and the daughter of the Polish Prince Mieszko I who Christianized Poland in 966 AD.

Pitynski has said: “It was always my dream to create 'Swiatowid' to bring him back from the time before Christ to the twentieth century A.D. and to see him standing in all his glory, a representation of proud legends, giving honor and respect to Europe’s deep pagan roots from which grew the beauty of European culture and art. … This monument is my message to humanity: there is only one way to survive – to conquer space, to find a new galaxy, a new star, which will be our new sun and our new god.”
