If you’re familiar with the view in the Arc area, it will be easy for you to judge.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, in reality, the row of trees is not passing through the Arc; it ends way before it. What we visualize here is an optical illusion created by forced perspective.

While hiking around the Matterhorn area in Switzerland, I took this panorama image. As I started to work on it I did notice a person in the scene, so tiny and felt it showed the immense size of this area.

I know the arrow ruins the shot, but I felt the viewer needed this to see the perspective.

The core of the Milky Way galaxy rises above Mount Massive and Turquoise Lake in the Sawatch Range of Colorado. While Mount Massive has the greatest area above 14,000'/ 4300 m of any mountain in the lower 48 states in the U.S., it's size seems diminutive when viewed in this perspective of the galaxy overhead.

The bright streak reflected on the lake surface on the right is from Antares, the brightest star in Scorpio, which is setting just to the left of the summit of Mount Massive.

St. Bavo’s Cathedral – or Sint-Baafskathedraal – started off small and humble in the middle of the 10th century. Eventually, the wooden construction that began life as the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist would transform into the 89-meter-tall Gothic building that keeps watch over Ghent today.
