The glorious spring light that persisted for most of the day was about to disappear fairly soon after shooting the main objective as the first cloud obscured the sun five minutes later and the bank of cloud moving inland off the North Sea eventually blanketed the locality completely an hour later. The transfer of 321 434 into preservation, after storage at Harry Needle's facility, ran remarkably to time after a 32 minute late start and is seen here about to cross the River Gipping on Badley Viaduct.

Lost in winter’s silent embrace,

Two souls find their sacred place,

With paw and hand, they intertwine,

A friendship pure, divine.

Snowbound in a world so still,

Their love persists, their spirits fill,

A winter friend, forever true,

In icy winds, their bond renews.

Remember, even in life’s coldest moments, the warmth of love and friendship can illuminate the darkest winter. Embrace these moments with faith, trusting that after every winter, spring’s renewal awaits, and with it, new beginnings filled with strength, love, and endless possibility. ❤️

Solomon's seal is an old cottage garden plant that appears early in spring, producing graceful, arching stems with precisely paired, oval leaves along their length. These are quickly joined by dangling, green-tipped, white bells that persist throughout late spring and early summer. Stems and foliage remain eye-catching even after the flowers are over.

"Wandering through the world as I do, I often forget to watch my feet. When I stop to watch them, I often find camouflaged, wondrous things. Insects, lizards, butterflies, ants, flowers....it makes me walk a little more carefully and slowly now."

"A faint, sickening scent of irises

Persists all morning. Here in a jar on the table

A fine proud spike of purple irises

Rising up in the class-room litter, makes me unable

To see the class’s lifted and bended faces

Save in a broken pattern, amid purple and gold and sable."

The Buildings of England (1969) calls attention to the presence of re-used Roman tiles - or bricks - in the north-east quoin of the north chapel and their occurrence also in a blocked early window in the north wall of the nave. The present writer is there credited with the suggestion that these are surviving features of a Saxon nave with a contemporary porticus. It might have been preferable to have used the term 'Saxo-Norman', as it is now recognized that up to the end of the eleventh century Anglo-Saxon techniques persisted in use. Re- used Roman material continued to be employed after the Conquest

The entire day was sunny, but it was just when we climbed the nearby hill to see the Medieval Church of Santa Maddalena, with the Odle Mountains in the background - that clouds started to cover the sky. We didn’t run but persisted instead and soon enough, we were soaked! The rain in the Dolomites is very heavy!

Which other iconic views in the Dolomites would you recommend to me?

I've been in a creative rut for a little while now. I'm not sure why (other then chronic health issues, that keep persisting) it's been going on for so long. Although I never tire of taking photos of anything from nature and animals. I seem to long-for something more challenging.

I've realized just how much I need to still learn about my camera and manual settings. So I've been focusing on re-studying photography again during these last few months. And have decided to challenge myself this summer in capturing things that are truly out of my comfort zone.

I've been studying portraits, light-trails, atmosphere and even smoke bomb photography. (I'm rather excited about the smokebomb photography one since I already have a model lined up for that shoot in late summer :-) I really hope to get re-inspired again and get back my groove in photography.

I mention all this only to let you know that once and a while, I may post things that are not "Nica's" type photography. (like this shot) And that I'm only sharing these captures in order to get any feedback that could help me learn. So if you have any ideas or critics.. PLEASE fell free to share them with me. I would love to gain so insight on better learning the technical aspects of Photography!

***Not to worry though... I will always still continue capturing animals and nature life. After all it is my only joy in life is to walk amonst the land with the animals.

Sorry for the long read :-) But thank-you so much for having taking the time to read it and have a wonderful day my friends!

The night, the pharmacy, the street,

The pointless lamppost in the mist.

A quarter century recedes –

There’s no escape. It all persists.

You’ll die – and you’ll begin anew,

As in the past, all will repeat:

The icy channel flowing through,

The lamp, the pharmacy, the street.

The place where strong wind and high waves persists all the time.

In breeding plumage, the male sports a very contrasting plumage comprising black, orange and white. The head, nape and upper back are shiny black, but a few small whitish feathers may persist in spring. The lower back has a scaly appearance as its black feathers are edged with reddish color. The throat, upper chest and shoulders are orange. The underparts are whitish. The russet flanks are speckled with blackish but these small spots are not always well marked, or even absent.

You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.

The Ferruginous Hawk, befitting the second part of its scientific name, is a regal-looking species: large and with a distinctive rufous plumage. The pronounced yellow gape, which persists with adults, is a reliable field mark. This is on average the largest of the buteos, a group of soaring hawks with broad wings. These raptors hunt mainly small mammals. This impressive individual was seen near Tillebrook Provincial Park in southern Alberta, Canada. The breeding range of these birds (which one gets the feeling are disdainful of humans, or at least aloof toward them) takes in the prairies of Canada and the USA. Some birds move south in winter to the southern USA and northern Mexico.

A thin surface of ice persists on the reservoir. As if alive it opstanantly clings to the last moments of a winter we hope soon transfers to Spring. However, as the top melts throughout the day, puddles are left that reflect the evening light before they too freeze again.

Adult Golden Eagle, with a Red Squirrel, Gazes Over Shoulder as Another Eagle Approaches in the panish Pyrenees.

In this striking image, a Golden Eagle perches confidently on a branch in the Spanish Pyrenees.

The Spanish Pyrenees offer an ideal habitat for Golden Eagles, providing rugged terrain for hunting and nesting. Renowned for their formidable hunting skills, Golden Eagles primarily target small to medium-sized mammals and birds.

During winter, Golden Eagles employ a unique strategy to endure the cold. They develop a thicker layer of feathers, giving them a robust appearance. In this photo, the eagle's bold, almost plump, appearance is a testament to this seasonal adaptation. Notably, the small head contrasts with the seemingly robust body, showcasing the intricate balance of this predator.

While Golden Eagles play a crucial role in the Pyrenean ecosystem, conservation challenges persist, including habitat fragmentation. Conservation efforts aim to safeguard their expansive territories and ensure the availability of prey species crucial to their survival.

This image captures a moment of stillness and power, emphasizing the resilience and adaptability of the Golden Eagle in the face of changing seasons in the Spanish Pyrenees.

Rhabdothamnus solandri is a small shrub of the family Gesneriaceae endemic to New Zealand. It is the only species in the genus Rhabdothamnus. The plant is found in lowland forest on the North Island. The flowers are pollinated mainly by the bellbird, tūī and stitchbird. The local extinction of the bellbird and stitchbird in the upper North Island in around 1870, and the retreat of tūī to higher canopy and more nectar-rich exotic flowers, has caused a long-term reduction in the reproduction of the shrub, which requires pollination to produce seeds. However, as the plant is slow-growing and long-lived, its populations persist. Future extinction of the species due to extinction of the main pollinators is nearly guaranteed.

The teasel is probably best known for its brown prickly stems and conical seed heads, which persist long after the plants themselves have died back for the winter. Between July and August, when teasels are in flower, the spiky flower heads are mostly green with rings of purple flowers

Since I started going up to LS&I eight years ago, rumors persisted annually that the end was near for the remaining fleet of U30C and C30-7s which typically performed fill-in duties when business was up or a set of SACX4400Cws were down for maintenance.

With three additional AC4400CWs delivered a few months ago and two of the three in service now, this may be the year they see less backup service than normal.

I wanted to get out on the ice one last time this winter and perhaps catch a bit of sunset color. A weather forecast for the coming week promised rain and a big thaw - it had to be now.

As we left home the sky was clouding over and it started to snow. However, if there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's not to give up too soon. We persisted and were rewarded with a few minutes of warm light and color to produce this scene. I really liked how it brought out the green in the water.

Lake Moraine has become my new favorite place on earth. The water color is unreal and the mountains that surround it tower above the water in a majestic array. This particular morning we were trying to enter in and we were yelled at to leave without explanation. We were very disappointed as we had previously been told we could go in since I am disabled. We drove up to Lake Louise and communicated with the traffic control people there and thankfully they let us in. It paid off to persist as this is the view that awaited us when we entered. I am so thankful that the Lord made a way for us to get in and behold the beauty that He made!

As long as the smoke and clouds persist, these crepuscular rays will persist. Despite not wanting smoke filled skies, at least these atmospheric optical events are spectacular to observe and photograph. Taken 21 September, the last sunset of summer.

* Marcescence is the withering and persistence of plant organs that normally are shed, and is a term most commonly applied to plant leaves. The underlying physiological mechanism is that trees transfer water and sap from the roots to the leaves through their vascular cells, but in some trees as autumn begins, the veins carrying the sap slowly close until a layer of cells called the abscission layer completely closes off the vein allowing the tree to rid itself of the leaf. Leaf marcescence is most often seen on juvenile plants and may disappear as the tree matures. It also may not affect the entire tree; sometimes leaves persist only on scattered branches. Marcescence is most obvious in deciduous trees that retain leaves through the winter. Several trees normally have marcescent leaves such as oak (Quercus), beech (Fagus) and hornbeam (Carpinus), or marcescent stipules as in some but not all species of willows (Salix). All oak trees may display foliage marcescence, even species that are known to fully drop leaves when the tree is mature. Marcescent leaves of pin oak (Quercus palustris) complete development of their abscission layer in the spring. The base of the petiole remains alive over the winter. Many other trees may have marcescent leaves in seasons where an early freeze kills the leaves before the abscission layer develops or completes development. Diseases or pests can also kill leaves before they can develop an abscission layer. [Wikipedia]

Demons, evil and the Devil himself.

Believing in the devil is often seen as an inherent component of theistic belief in God. From a theological standpoint, the concept of the devil serves a number of crucial purposes.

Acknowledging the existence of the devil helps to explain the presence of evil and suffering in the world.

If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and benevolent, why does evil persist? The belief in the devil provides an answer by positing that evil is the result of a fallen angel who opposes God's will and actively seeks to corrupt humanity.

This understanding allows believers to reconcile the coexistence of an all-loving God and the presence of evil in the world.

Every good story needs a villain. Without the Devil the "God story" doesn't work.
