Part 5 in this series. These turned out to be the last images I was able to get of the family together. The next day, while I was there setting up my camera, the chicks left the nest. One we saw land in some shrubs, and after a few minutes mom found it and continued to feed it as it tried to fly from place to place. It bobbed in the air, kind of like a balloon. In all honesty it was something I really didn’t watch to watch at that point, as it worried me whether the chick was safe, and whether it would actually live. We debated putting it back in the nest but soon learned that it would just jump out again anyway. So, we left mom looking for her new chicks and we hope for the best. Hopefully mom will lay eggs again late this summer in this nest, and I can photograph the process again. Thanks everyone for following along!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mom back for another feeding.

Part 4 in this series. The babies are getting bigger and bigger by the day. They doubled in size over the past 9 days or so, and I suspect will be leaving the nest within a week or so. Mom is still flying back and forth all day long to get them the insects they need to keep up this incredible metabolism. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mom taking a little time to rest in between feedings.
