Hey my soul sister don't you look so sad

It's time to stop thinking about what you ain't got and see the things you have

Now don't you go and throw it all throw it all away

Tomorrow doesn't have to be just another yesterday

Ride the storm, life goes on, Life goes on, ride the storm

'Cos I can't watch you drown away, drown in your own tears

Everybody gets hurt sometimes, and everybody has fears

You say you want to end it all, but don't you get that rad baby

Cause if you want the good things, you got to taste the bad sometimes

That's how it is

Ride the storm, life goes on, Life goes on, ride the storm

'Cos I know that life can get hazy, but don't let this world drive you crazy, hear me baby

So don't let your world turn a permanent shade of blue

You've got to learn to kick the habit baby, before it starts to kick you yes it will

Don't you know you're bold enough and strong enough to fight

Someway somehow you know it's going to be all right

That's how it is

Ride the storm, life goes on, Life goes on, ride the storm

An old decrepit boat moored on the edge of the river at Orford. Its been there many years now and it doesn't look like it will be moving any time soon.

There's something about train tracks that have always appealed to me. Although trains themselves scare me straight, the idea of the tracks themselves and the vast distances they cover really capture my imagination..

"Your rainbow panorama is a permanent work of art consisting of a circular, 150-metre-long and three metre-wide circular walkway in glass in all the colours of the spectrum. Mounted on slender columns 3.5 metres above the roof and with a diameter of 52 metres, this spectacular creation extends from one edge to the other of the facade of the cubic museum building."

“Your rainbow panorama establishes a dialogue with the existing architecture and reinforces what was already there, that is to say the view across the city. I have created a space that can almost be said to erase the boundary between inside and outside – a place where you become a little uncertain as to whether you have stepped into a work of art or into part of the museum. This uncertainty is important to me, as it encourages people to think and sense beyond the limits within which they are accustomed to function.” (Olafur Eliasson)

I decided to show you the pictures I took from inside tomorrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Your rainbow panorama" ist ein permanentes Kunstwerk, das aus einem runden, 150 m langen und drei Meter breiten Gehweg aus Glas in allen Farben des Spektrums besteht. Auf schlanken Säulen, 3,5 m über dem Dach, mit einem Durchmesser von 52 m, erstreckt sich diese aufsehenerregende Kreation von einem Ende der Fassade des würfelförmigen Museumsgebäudes zum anderen.
Folgendes Zitat stammt aus der Beschreibung des Künstlers von seinem eigenen Werk:
“Your rainbow panorama schafft einen Dialog mit der vorhandenen Architektur und verstärkt das schon vorher Existente, also den Blick über die Stadt. Ich habe einen Raum geschaffen, von dem man fast sagen könnte, dass er die Grenze zwischen innen und außen aufhebt – einen Ort, an dem Sie unsicher sind, ob Sie nun ein Kunstwerk betreten haben oder einen Teil des Museums. Diese Unsicherheit ist mir wichtig, da sie Menschen anregt, über die Grenzen hinaus zu denken und fühlen, innerhalb derer sie zu funktionieren gewohnt sind.”
Green Cargo Br 5332 at Ørestad with "Volvo" train 46254 (Gent-Zeehaven – Älmhult) on December 19, 2020, 14:11. These trains are often only partly loaded, but this train was fully loaded. And normally these trains are operated by DB Cargo Scandinavia, even through it is a Green Cargo train, but on this Saturday it was hauled by a Green Cargo locomotive - time will show if this is a permanent change. So even though the weather was grey and foggy, I'm happy I got the picture.
This aircraft was delivered to Aviogenex as YU-AHY in Apr-71. It was leased to Nesu Air (Turkiye) as TC-ALV in Mar-88 and returned to Aviogenex as YU-AHY in Sep-89.
In Dec-90 the aircraft was sold to Aeroflot - Russian Airlines as RA-93926 (I would have though it would be CCCP-93926 first as the Soviet Union didn't become the Russian Federation until 1992 - but apparently not).
The aircraft was permanently retired in Jun-03 and later broken up. Updated 29-Jun-23.
Canada Permanent Trust Building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is an Art Deco structure built between 1928 and 1930. It was designed by the architect Henry Sproatt. The 18-floor office building is located at 320 Bay Street and was built by F. Hilton Wilkes.
The building is designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act since November 26, 1975. There is also a heritage easement agreement on the building, Registered C440805, since January 7, 1988. The building has a heritage designation plaque to inform the public, placed in 1978.
The Canada Permanent Trust Building is designated to be of architectural value as being one of the finest highrise bank buildings of its period in Canada. Designed using the simplified classical forms of the Style Moderne, it combines an emphasis on its vertical height appropriate to its basic form, with the impressive vaulted banking hall, characteristic of bank buildings at the beginning of the Century. The building is also important as a part of the Bay Street canyon of high-rise buildings that has come to be regarded as symbolic of Toronto's financial quarter."
The semi-permanent (since 2017) road block on former US Route 66 at Kelbaker Road is shown. This was shot about 45 minutes after sunset.
Good news: County Road 66 is open from Roy's to Kelbaker so you can resume going to Las Vegas via Kelbaker.
Bad news: last time I was at Roy's the leaking fuel tank alarm was on. This time there is a lot of excavation and Roy's neon sign is turned off. I'll let you know when it's lit again.
This is about a 30 second exposure at f5.6 and should look worse than it does at this aperture. If only I had a Fuji or Sony...
First permanent establishments
In 1635, the first seigneurie was granted on the territory of Cape-Rouge, but revoked the following year by the Company of One Hundred Associates. However, by 1638 Paul Le Jeune, a missionary Jesuit, had noted in The Jesuit Relations the presence of some families in the valley.[1] Between 1647 and 1652, the seigneuries of Maur, on the west, and Gaudarville, in the east, were established on the territory. From that moment, based on taxable citizens, the settlement on the lands of Cap-Rouge are established. The village formed is served by the parishes of Ancienne-Lorette in (1678) to the north; of Saint-Augustin in (1691) on the west; and of Sainte-Foy (1698) in the east.
Geography
The beach of Plage Jacques Cartier and the cliffs of Cap-Rouge.
The name of Cap-Rouge, meaning "red cape", comes from its cliffs facing the Saint-Lawrence river and made of schist rock bearing a reddish tint. The other main topographic feature of Cap-Rouge is the Rivière du Cap Rouge valley where are concentrated some historic buildings as well the archeological remains of a pottery workshop active from 1860 to 1892. It is believed that until the end of its operations the workshop mainly used imported clay rather than the local one, which has a rather red hue.
The Cap-Rouge area is located to the south of the Canadian Shield and Laurentian Mountains, at the confluence of the geological regions of the Saint Lawrence Lowlands and of the northern Appalachians. It mostly sits at the western foot of the Quebec promontory, in the way of the Logan's Line - an inactive fracture in the Earth's crust first documented by Sir William Edmond Logan.
This little island just off shore “Burtonport” has very few permanent inhabitants. It was previously populated in the 18th century with a settlement being established in 1789. Unfortunately fish catches declined heavily shortly afterwards, leaving the island permanently uninhabited in the 1960's.
Today the island is enjoying a new lease of life, with some of the descendants of the original island families renovating their old homes with the help of the “Donegal Islands Trust”. There are no roads at all on Rutland Island & although mains electricity reached it in 1957, to date it still does not have running mains water! The good life 😊
Hope you enjoy! Please favourite & add me as a contact to view my newest upcoming works, Thank you
Il love our fluffy Buff-tailed Bumblebees. When I look at them from the window (i.e. some distance from the tree), I can see that they take all their time on each flower but if I get close with my camera, they start hurrying from one flower to the next and getting a clear capture is almost impossible. Being stubborn, I keep trying, though and it's always a challenge :) /
J'adore les Bourdons terrestres. Lorsque je les regarde depuis la fenetre, c'est a dire a quelque distance de l'Arbre aux Papillons, je peux voir qu'ils prennent tout leur temps pour butiner chaque fleur mais si je m'approche avec mon appareil photo, ils passent a toute allure d'une fleur a l'autre et il est presque impossible d'en prendre une image claire. Cependant, comme je suis quelqu'un de tetu, je continue d'essayer et c'est devenu mon defi permanent :) !
Canada Permanent Mortgage Building /Telpay Building at 298 Garry Street.
This three-storey building was designed by local architect John Danley Atchison and constructed in 1909 by the firm of Smith and Sharp on the west side of Garry Street, on the former site of the Manitoba Club.
Its first occupant was the Toronto-based financial services firm Canada Permanent Trust Company, with other space in the building leased to smaller firms.
In 1964, Canada Permanent moved out of the building, which was renamed the Guardian Finance Building for its primary occupant at that time.
In the 1970s, it became the Freed Building.
In the 1980s, the structure was purchased and renovated by Comcheq Services Limited, whose subsidiary Telpay Incorporated is its present occupant.
