History:
Permanent makeup dates back at least to the start of the 20th century, though its nature was often concealed in its early days. The tattooist George Burchett, a major developer of the technique when it become fashionable in the 1930s, described in his memoirs how beauty salons tattooed...

The Peoples Summit 'Linking Alternatives 4' is an alternative meeting to the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean taking place in Madrid from 14 to 18 May 2010. The Biregional network Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, which organizes Linking Alternatives, comprises civil society representatives from those regions in a space for action and reflection that seeks to contribute to building 'another world'.
The agenda of Linking Alternatives 4 does not only cover trade issues, but it also includes a wide range of issues such as militarization, human rights, water, food sovereignty, migrations, climate change, etc. The Permanent Peoples' Tribunal, an opinion tribunal which aims to give visibility to social movements and citizens’ struggles against human rights violations, will focus on the complicity of the European Union (EU) with the abuses of transnational corporations (TNCs) and denounce the impunity of European TNCs and their impacts on peoples’ rights.

Dive Site - The Bridge
Located a short boat ride from the Dive Shop www.divesxm.com, this dive site gets his name from the concrete pilings from the old Simpson Bay drawbridge that were dumped in 47 feet of water in the late seventies, piling up over each other on the flat sand bottom at random. Nearby, and within swimming distance we can visit tree wrecks, a large sailboat Vinney was laid to rest and for last a smaller sail vessel call " Atlantis" was eded to complement the site. As this man-made reef was created so many years ago, it has attracted generations of grunts, snappers, pufferfish, eels, lobsters, barracudas and much more …. That are now full time residents of the area and seemingly unafraid of divers. In the sea grass patches, you can spot conchs feeding from small crustaceans and stingrays half-buried in the sand. But don't let the abundance of Caribbean critters distract you from looking out in the open once in a while, as larger animals (think dolphin !) have been seen enjoying the area as well. This is a great place for photography, videography and to sharp your navigation skills finding the wrecks…. your mission for the navegation on the advanced course or specialty course will be to find "Atlantis" :) :) :) The Bridge is a great dive site for all levels of experience and for sure is one of the sites with the most marine life concentration and variety… Don't be shy take a pic on the selection of the photos and videos from the old bridge .

One of the effects of the heat wave that was generated by the blast is that all shadows were permanently etched into whatever surface they were falling on.
In the main museum, there's a section of the front steps from a bank with the entire shadow of a person "burned" into the stone.
The coverings are placed there by residents to keep buddha warm, and is a common sight.
