It always amazes me how birds have their perfect, unwavering balance on a single leg, just like this Sanderling.

If you've spent any time hanging with the "dogs," you realize that their environment is rather drab. Their constant digging and burrowing tend to make their mounded dirt homes less photogenic. As I was driving along Wildlife Drive, I noticed a prairie dog town on the other side of a draw. I got out of my car and slowly moved closer, hoping to get the green grasses along the draw's ridges to hide this one's dirt home. It worked!
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

A Perfect Morning, one photographers view of another photographers view of the cloud inversion from Latrigg this morning looking towards Grisedale Pike and the Newlands Valley etc..A stunning morning with the cloud inversion seeming to cover the whole of the Lake District and indeed eventually reaching higher up to us on Latrigg. I liked this image of a lone photographer catching that moment of first light hitting the peaks in front of him as the moon drops lower in the sky.

Monday, January 9: Member’s Choice: Inspired by a Song
This week´s theme where we get to share our favourite music, which is something very meaningful to me, I decided to pick Lady Gaga and Perfect Illusion. That song makes me in such a good mood but also creates room for a perfect macro shot, where you can imagine just about anything.
Here´s the link to the song.

Enjoy. HMM to everyone on this wonderful Monday! :-)
Hamnøy is one of the many captivating islands in Reinefjord, and it's no surprise that it's a favorite in all the advertisements showcasing the allure of the Lofoten. The best way to experience the magic of Hamnoy is from the bridge over the Breisundet. It's the perfect representation of the vision of the Lofoten archipelago: a charming village of red huts and fish drying sheds built on rocks at the foot of the majestic Festhaeltinden mountain.
“The only thing that makes life worth living is the possibility of experiencing now and then a perfect moment. And perhaps even more than that, it’s having the ability to recall such moments in their totality, to contemplate them like jewels. Do you understand?”
― Paul Bowles, The Spider's House: A Novel
For those of us that travel, we are often compelled to experience a place by reading a book, seeing an image or watching a film. When we arrive, it can be disappointing or enchanting. After watching the film, "Lawrence of Arabia", many times over I knew Wadi Rum was a place I had to add to my own being.
Don Lean, the director of the movie, showed the immense landscape, the sweeping vistas, and silent sameness of the desert sand. I wanted to experience some of the adventure that took one to such a desolate place and feel the quiet windswept emptiness and discover why the Bedouin still call it home.
Luckily, it became etched in my memory as a place of wonder, romance, silence, awareness and joy. The rock formation, The sight of The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, in this vast untamed desert, will be with me forever.

Yesterday evening I went out to Estero Bluffs to walk the trails. I was happy when I spotted a RS Hawk atop a bush. I slowly worked my way a bit closer and as I did so the hawk repositioned himself on the perfect twig with a nice colorful clear background. I just LOVE it when that happens - which is almost never!
